Perhaps the Post cartoon is not racist....
...perhaps they merely suggest that responsible people (represented by the police) Should assassinate the author of the stimulus bill (Obama)...

See:Nothing racist there!

1. Well said. It validates the hate that many wackjobs already feel.
There are many that would love to see harm befall our president. Most of them are racists. At any rate, it validates their hatred and encourages that line of thinking.

2. That's one of the worst cartoons I've seen in awhile -- editorial cartooning has gone way downhill
in recent years anyway, but this one is pretty bad. A stupid metaphor using things that have absolutely nothing to do with each other mashed together in a way that illustrates no point whatsoever -- and that art sucks ass, too!

4. Maybe it's a slam on the police as racist, trigger-happy, animal killers.
Or "pigs" as they are sometimes lovingly referred to around here.

12. As depicted in the cartoon, the police are human, and the victim is not.
If that were the intent, would it not be reversed?

14. If that comment is about the Chimp attack-the cops really had no choice
from what I have heard

It opened his car door and was coming in for crying out loud

10. He both did and didn't.
How that particular probability equation resolves depends on how successful it is.

Currently it's in a state where half the future observers suspect he did and half suspect he didn't. In this case, since whatever is necessary to feed indignation is what must be, we have to believe--at least for 5 minutes--that Obama personally wrote each and every line of the bill, each draft, and we had different drafts simply couldn't decide what he wanted to do. He took possession of Reid, Pelosi's, and Rahm's bodies, as needed, to accomplish this.

9. Lovely.
The New York Post isn't known for being a bastion of racial sensitivity. They can try to play innocent here, but they're full of shit. x(

11. Perhaps. Perhaps not.
No discussion. Just judgments and assertions, all of which must be true because, well, nobody can believe that they could ever possibly be wrong.

17. It's terribly tasteless, but not racist.

It's a bad attempt to slur the stimulous bill by saying the authors of it/its contents, like the chimp, are bat-shit crazy.

It's in terrible taste since a woman has lost her life as she knew it, and a chimpanzee is dead, but don't believe for a second it was meant to imply that someone should be assassinated, or that its intent was to promote racism.

19. Why should I not believe that for a second?
The NY Post is a vicious publication owned by the same folks who own Fox News. They could've drawn ANYTHING. They chose to draw that despite its racist connotations and veiled threats. Highly unacceptable.

20. Of course you're entitled to your opinion. It's mine that is unpopular.

I'm very familiar with the NY Post.

Around these parts the mauling has been a big story, and due to its sensationalist nature, of course featured in the Post along with the absolutely horrifying 911 call in its entirety.

That's why I believe the cartoon is meant to compare the berserk rampage of the chimp with congress and the stimulus bill.

23. Oh, horseshit. Do you know any black people? I guess not, since you clearly don't understand that
portraying a person with African blood (like, say, my wife) as a monkey is the fucking WORST kind of insult.

Why don't you just go back under the couch where you belong?

24. Why don't you up your medication?

Threatening to go after people and "kick ass" over the internet doesn't say much for you, dear. Sounds actually kind of redneckish, if you ask me.

But thanks, I know lots of people of different races, creeds and viewpoints.

I happen to have worked many years in the city in question and there are several things I know.

One is that there are a lot of New Yorkers who like only a little bit of news with their morning sensationalist bullshit and at least some of those include African Americans. I don't believe the NYP would overtly decide to make a racist statement such as you propose in the hopes of losing half their readership in one fell swoop. Or open themselves to criminal charges for advocating an assassination. How utterly stupid.

Secondly, the berserk chimp story has been HUGE fodder for them, and so as soon as I saw the cartoon I instantly put two and two together that they were implying that the stimulus bill was as berserk as the chimp. You're entitled to your opinion, as I am to mine. I think mine is far more rational than yours, but good luck to you in tracking people down and committing violence against them for their comments on a message board.

27. Taking things out of context seems to be a favorite pastime amongst people.

Seems to me the NYP is complaining of the same thing. Perhaps it's a good time to take a lesson from them in being very clear about what one sends out there for reading consumption.

And I'm hardly a stalker in answering someone's insulting post telling me where I should be dwelling.

Thank you for the good luck wishes.

26. A voice of reason in the wilderness!
Fact: A drugged up chimp was just shot after attacking a woman.

Fact: Not everyone agrees with all of the stimulus bill

Fact: President Obama did not write this bill, he merely signed it into law

Probability: A deranged chimp could have written this bill

Fact: a lot of people here are getting worked up over a cartoon!

We have a lot more serious problems don't we?
