Thinking back...and looking at this photo...I wonder if all these people knew about the cartoon
Edited on Wed Feb-18-09 09:51 PM by Mira
in today's paper, we could do something about the NY Post and them trying to take the weasel's way out.

The photo is of an Obama rally in Oakland, and there were many others of equal proportion.

I know much has been written and fury expressed on the subject. But I'm slowly simmering and wondering why we in such numbers have to put up with this debasing, classless, and obvious slam on a man we elected to be our President, and who has so far done nothing but his best to start fulfilling his promises.

It speaks so loudly on it's own face, I cannot hear any of the denials.

edited to correct a really dumb mistake

2. OOps - of course it is - shows you just how mad I am about it. Can't think straight.
Thanks for catching me being out of it.

3. Because it's more of "them" on the TV talks/news shows than "us"
Their bloviating is dominating the discourse in the MSM.

4. its
no apostrophe.

Otherwise, I agree. The "monkey" attack is the hysterics of the desperate realizing that we've finally hit the trifecta: the logical collapse of Republican style pirate-economics, a full on Democratic Congress, a real liberal president with a mandate from the people and the discipline to keep his barn door closed.

Some conservatives are hiding their panic. But denying Obama a bipartisan recovery plan will turn out to be the biggest Republican strategic fuck up since they went isolationist on the eve of World War Two. The fact is that the capitalist system is resilient, if properly managed. It's virtually impossible that the economy won't start to recover by the fall of 2010. At which time all they'll have left is to go back to scaring swing voters about gay marriage again.

5. You are making excellent points, yet, explaining the "monkey " attack intellectually
does not give the fact that it happened any lessening of impact and unacceptability. We are such a majority at this point, that it is a slap not only at our President, elected by the multitudes shown in the photo, but at us and we need to stand up and not allow it.
The racist implications in the cartoon are multitudinous and blatant.

I agree with everything else you are saying easily, though I don't think the good points you are making have anything to do with this thread.

You are ever so correct on correcting me for using an apostrophe when it was not appropriate.
English is my second language, and I hide behind this every single time I make a mistake.
