I respect Obama. I didn't respect Bush. It changes my citizenship. |

1. I feel the same, but it didn't change my citizenship. |

I refuse to define America or my Americanism by the deeds of evil men perverting my country's government. They don't own my country and they don't affect my identity. I won't give up my power to them. I don't give up sex just because some pervert moves into my neighborhood. I don't give up beer sweet wholesome beer just because some drunk wrecks his car. And I don't give up being American just because some jackass cryptofascist hijacks the White House.

2. A friend of mine who strongly disliked and distrusted Reagan |
|
was included on an invitation list to a National Press Club event at which Reagan spoke.
When Reagan enetered the room, my friend stood and applauded. Asked why, given his deep disdain for the man, my friend said, "I applaud the office."

Your friend must have been a Democrat.
So far, i have seen precious little of "applauding the office" from our erstwhile loyal opposition (sarcasm intended, if not put home with an icon).

5. Hi, susanna. Agreed. The Mitch McConnell cult in the GOP |
|
these days is gambling that Obama's stimulus will be inadequate, which they did everything in their power to assure.
But if it turns things around and people interpret Obama's actions as pro-citizen, it will lift Democrats in local and state races and punish the Pukes.
That's what I'm hoping for, anyway.

Further hoping that their obvious obstructionism will be their undoing... :-)

9. Yes. There should be a penalty for pig-headedness. |

Not that Republicans are generally as smart as pigs.

8. They say the first person who ever thought he was Napoleon was |

Napoleon.
Bush falls roughly into the category referenced in that adage.
