Petition for Senator Leahy's "Truth" Commission
Please sign the petition if you have not done so already. Perhaps we can keep this thread alive so more will sign? Thanks for your help.

Support a Truth & Reconciliation Commission
28,596 signatures so far... keep it going!

I have proposed the idea of a truth and reconciliation commission to investigate abuses during the Bush-Cheney Administration -- so they never happen again. These abuses may include the use of torture, warrantless wiretapping, extraordinary rendition, and executive override of laws.

Please sign this online petition, urging Congress to consider establishing a truth and reconciliation commission to investigate the Bush-Cheney Administration's abuses.

Thank you,

Patrick Leahy
U.S. Senator

2. Isn't Leahy also including BLANKET IMMUNITY for everyone?
Edited on Thu Feb-19-09 12:46 PM by AndyA
Let's get the truth, find out who did what, but no one will have charges filed against them?

I called his office, but never got a good answer, and never heard back from anyone.

Does anyone know for certain? I signed, but would not have done so if I'd known immunity was part of the deal.

The panel would have subpoena power but would not bring criminal charges.

Sorry, I don't like the sound of that at all. WTF, Leahy? :wtf:

3. These committees are always formed, not to uncover the truth
but to HIDE the truth.

Look back at most every Congressional investigation committee over the last few decades (9/11, Iran Contra, the Warren Commission) and the truth was the last thing that came out of them.
