Professor claims he has found Bin Laden
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/pakistan/4681736/Geography-professor-claims-to-have-found-Osama-bin-Laden.html

Using patterns of how animal species spread, the world's most wanted terrorist can be tracked down to a town in the tribal region of North West Pakistan it is claimed.

By factoring in his need for security, electricity, high ceilings to accommodate his 6ft 4in frame and spare rooms for his bodyguards, the search can be further narrowed to three walled compounds.

According to a team led by Thomas Gillespie, at the University of California in Los Angeles, bin Laden's location is "one of the most important political questions of our time".

Mathematical models used to explain how animal species spread out say he should be close to where he was last spotted.

It's too bad that he had to go and blab this instead of taking it to the feds instead. I have to admit, capturing Bin Laden less than a month after Obama had taken office would have pretty much fucked the Republicans over.

1. Plenty of tall people live in places without high ceilings
Did he also factor in the need for a dialysis machine?

3. He factored in quite a lot of things.
I think this method has some merit especially if they can get any intel to go with it. I wouldn't dismiss it out of hand.

Has been for many years. Wonder if Obama will finally come clean with this now that he's POTUS?

10. The Telegraph is UK's right wing mouthpiece.
They come up with all kinds of bullshit. Lots of us have been following their disinfo campaigns for years.

8. This is so stupid that I cringed when I saw the jackass was from
UCLA and used "wildlife models" to find OBL. Sheeessh. Slimes the UCs and slams wildlife science too.

IMO OBL has been dead for years and all or most of the tapes are fake.

This is worse than Powell's presentation of "intelligence" at the UN prior to the invasion.

16. "..patterns of how animal species spread..."
Uh... far as I know, animal species (other than humans) don't use cars, and trains, and planes, and burrows. How many animal species have migrated from Saudi Arabia to Afghanistan within the past few years?

I think there are limits to how much one can draw from the natural world, in a case like this.
