DALLAS — A month after leaving the White House, former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, moved into their new Dallas home Friday.

Bush's motorcade drove past a security barricade in the late afternoon, bringing the former first couple to their new residence: a 1959 ranch-style brick home that sits at the top of a quiet cul-de-sac in a wealthy Dallas neighborhood. Bush waved to a jogger as he rode by, and the jogger waved back.

"President and Mrs. Bush are glad to be back in Dallas, appreciate the warm welcome by their neighbors, and look forward to once again being part of the Dallas community," said Rob Saliterman, a spokesman for Bush's office in Dallas.

The couple's new home has about 8,500 square feet, four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms

and a wet bar.

Local property records indicate the home on Daria Place is worth about $2.1 million.

1. Heh..:Pickles has been in town for "a few days", seen around at restaurants
While chimp was still back on his faux ranch. Me thinks this is a sign of things to come...Pickles on her social circuit in Dallas, chimp down in Crawford, occassionally dropping by Dallas just for appearance once in a while.

2. I don't understand why he would buy such an old house
and a ranch, too. for 2.1 million he could have had a really nice home built in a not as affluent neighborhood, he didn't budget his money so well....I guess nothing changes.....

5. One of Dallas' news reports said that the Dallas PD is refusing to answer how much
local taxpayer $$ is being spent on their officers who they say are "backing up" (their words, not mine) the SS. Excuse me...If it is TAXPAYER money, how the hell do they get off telling us that they WON'T tell us?? One DPD official would just say that it "is less than the previously reported $1 million".

3. You can't fall down the stairs in a ranch house, either....
Gotta think about these things!

I'll bet that's some house--it would probably go for double that up north.
