Set up a website in August for Future outrage in February

You may have heard the recent news about the White House ‘Lashing out’ at a ‘journalist’.

Here’s the link
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0209/19083.html

Here’s a snippet:
White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs jumped at the chance to go after the CNBC journalist, Rick Santelli, when a question about his bracing critique was asked at Friday’s news briefing.

“I’ve watched Mr. Santelli on cable the past 24 hours or so. I’m not entirely sure where Mr. Santelli lives or in what house he lives but the American people are struggling every day to meet their mortgages, stay in their jobs, pay their bills, send their kids to school,” Gibbs said. “I think we left a few months ago the adage that if it was good for a derivatives trader that it was good for Main Street. I think the verdict is in on that,” the press secretary said, poking directly at the cable journalist, who reports from the trading floor at the Chicago Board of Trade.

Rick Sentelli’s video of his outrage about Obama's anti-foreclosure plan broadcast at the Chicago Board of Trade can be found on the website www.chicagoteaparty.com where he encourages people to join him at Lake Michigan for a Chicago Tea Party to protest Obama’s anti-foreclosure plan announced this week.

Here’ the thing, this site was registered in August. How amazing that someone had the foresight in August 08 to register a website that Sentelli would need for an announcement in February 09.

The people behind this must be the best traders ever if they can see 6 months in the future. :sarcasm: Sounds like the GOPiggies had their talking points and propaganda ready long before the plan was even released. Something tells me their talking points don't contain facts.

4. The dirty little secret is that they knew
Obama was going to win all along. And they also knew what kind of shit-bomb they were leaving him.

Unfortunately, if President Obama can't get things turned around fast enough he will be one and done.

5. So what do all these "EXPERTS" who got us into this mess
Edited on Sat Feb-21-09 08:11 AM by Hubert Flottz
think?

That If McCain had won we'd be better off, because McCain would have kept right on digging us deeper into the hole that Bush has put us in? McCain admitted two things...one...He didn't know much about the economy. And two...he saw nothing wrong with the way Bush and Cheney had been running the country!(running the country into the ground, BTW) Couple those two things with the fact that McCain would probably have made UBS/ENRON owned and operated flunky, "foreclosure" Phil Gramm, Treasury secretary and you would have had the country heading full speed ahead for a total economic calamity, from which there would have been zero probability of any form of rescue or recovery.

Edit...Is there a reason these "EXPERTS" want America to totally collapse? Do they really hate America that much?

6. They love their bottom line more than America
and they live for the return of the "gilded age".

From their Manhattan high rises or the upstate gated communities they look out at a world filled with worker bees that are there to do their bidding. To them it doesn't matter the flag those bees salute only the return on investment they represent.

14. true but Santelli isn't a talented trader
His prediction skills from what other more informed DUers say are not even mediocre. He is where he is not by merit which also feeds that 'gilded age' desire. They need to hang on to what they have tightly, because they sure as hell can't go out there and earn like the rest of us.

13. I suspect their talking points are as stale as this web site
and were created to just push propaganda points and not at all focus on the actual plan. This tells me that what they are saying is not factual about the plan. They are clouding the issue and getting people riled up over things that don't exist. Might be time for some DU investigative work.

Always good to see you and hear from you :hi:

I note that, for instance, 'miamiteaparty.com' has only just been registered in the past couple of days. Too much of a coincidence that they had Obama's home city all ready back in August.

Worth informing Olberman, the Huffington Post, and others, about?

19. Neither have I; I was hoping someone would step in and say "yes - here's how"
I'm British, so I haven't done this before (I don't get to see his program, but it seemed this is the kind of thing he covers, from what DUers say).

There's a possible answer here from a few days ago: http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x4992664 "I think (email to) countdown@msnbc.com would work" - and that is indeed the recommended way that this web page gives: http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3303518/

I'd suggest an email; if they find something in it, and you want to be credited as 'GinaMaria at Democratic Underground' then send a link to this thread (and tell them you'd rather they didn't use your real name); or say you'd rather they didn't mention you at all, if that's what you want (or even say they can use your real name).

They're WAAAAAY stupider than we give them credit for. They'll be laughed out of this city and sent packing on a train out to DuPage County.

I imagine that the counter-protest will be much larger than the dinky "tea party" these dipshits are planning.

35. The connection so far
From Zack Christenson's website:
About
I'm Zack Christenson, the executive producer for the Milt Rosenberg show, which is like Charlie Rose, only better. you can email me at zchristenson at gmail dot com

We have launched the official Chicago Tea Party website (chicagoteaparty.com). Run on Tumblr of course. We’re still in the planning stages, but we have big plans for it.

Info on Milt Rosenberg at WGN Chicago
Milt Rosenberg
http://www.wgnradio.com/shows/ex720/index.html
Since 1973, Milt Rosenberg has been host of WGN Radio's "Extension 720", a two-hour discussion show with one hour reserved for call-ins. The program, which airs Monday through Friday from 9 to 11 p.m., deals with topics ranging from politics to financial investment to entertainment to religion to foreign policy to literature, and, as Milt says, "just about everything except pop psychology and poodle-trimming."

1. Zack Christenson registered the website www.chicagoteaparty.com which hosts the video footage of Santelli throwing a tantrum on the floor of the Chicago Board of Trade like he was starting an uprising.

2. In the video, Santelli talks about the Chicago tea party demonstration.

3. Same video on Zack Christenson's website

4. Santelli in 'show biz' and Christenson is an executive producer

5. Both are here in Chicago

Nothing more firm than that, for right now... DH suspects that Santelli is positioning himself for his own show. I've never listened to Milt Rosenberg before, so I cannot say if his show is right leaning but it is on am radio and seems to be talk radio from the description. Christenson is involved with political and financial programming. This whole thing smells like a staged stunt.

I will keep digging and looking for more.

36. Thanks for the recap...
for those who might not know Santelli has ranted many times on different issues including the bank bailout, the Federal Reserve Bank, printing money etc. I'm sure this is not well received by those in power.

I was offended when he categorized everyone who is in trouble as losers, some people bit off more than they could chew, others have used their homes as a source of income for years and some committed fraud claiming their income was higher to obtain a mortgage.

Yet there is another group who he failed to mention, those who were preyed upon by greedy lenders with exotic mortgages or faced mounting losses to due an illness.

We'll see if there is more to this story, thanks again.

"Hey he got more than me, no fair."

He claims that you will be paying for someone who has one more bathroom than you. IOW, you will be paying for someone to have a better house than you. This seems to trigger in some people a response that goes back to childhood. "He got more than me! Or She got a bigger piece than I did."

39. True, although I believe he is also thinking about the
implications of printing too much money and how that will effect interest rates in the future and whether or not trying to place a floor on home prices at this level makes sense. Some people might be better off getting out from under an enormous debt that could keep them down for years.

So it was childish rant and the words were not carefully chosen, but is there any truth in what he said?

38. These two are connected in the Tea Party 'project'
It is clear this is a media stunt that may have multiple objectives:
1. Create opposition to Obama's plan
2. Create publicity for Santelli
3. Create the appearance of a large following for Santelli
4. parlay all of the above into a show starring Santelli that will reinforce the first three objectives.

I expect, Press Releases to the media before the event and 'news' camera's set up to focus on Santelli's message whenever this tea party takes place.

We need to think of a meaningful counter move that takes an equal amount of media attention at the same time Santelli hopes to grab some. If we can cut his impact in half (at least) we will have accomplished a great thing.

I've never done community organizing before, but I don't mind learning on the fly. Have you ever done anything like this before? My goal would be to bring an equal or greater number of protestors to his event. Out numbering him is the key to a significant statement and significant embarrassment to Santelli and gang.

46. update from Chicago Tribune
Rant raises profile of CNBC on-air personality Rick Santelli
http://www.chicagotribune.com/business/chi-rosenthal-23-feb23,0,6124753.story

Only during the weekend, however, was it occurring to him how his newly raised profile—part Howard Beale, the fictional "mad as hell" anchorman, part Howard Jarvis, the anti-tax champion of fiscal responsibility—might be parlayed into other opportunities.

I don't think in those terms, but maybe I should now," Santelli, 52, a full-timer on CNBC since 1999 whose current contract is set to run out around the end of the summer, said from his west suburban home. "I have three daughters. I have the whole college thing and whatnot."

Santelli, who doesn't have an agent, said he already has heard from several publishers, a prospect that interests him. And he previously has enjoyed doing talk radio. That said, he noted, "I'm pretty happy with what I do."

Truth be damned. Americans be damned. Rick's got kids to send to college.

Anyone have media contacts we can get this to?
