nuke plant event update and a new nuke plant event

Update
Area: USA, State of New York, Indian Point Nuclear Power Plant , Buchanan

Workers are trying to meet a 72-hour deadline to repair a pipe that was leaking radioactive water at the Indian Point nuclear plant in suburban New York. Regulators say the leak doesn't pose any danger to the public, but the nuclear plant was given until 4 a.m. Monday to repair the pipe. The fixes shouldn't require a shutdown of the reactor. A team of pipefitters, carpenters and other tradesmen were put on 12-hour shifts to meet the deadline. They have managed to close off the pipe that was leaking. They will try to replace a broken 2-foot section on Saturday. Officials say they tested the water and determined it was coming from a non-radioactive secondary cooling system. They say the water contains radioactive tritium.

Area: USA, State of Missouri, Callaway Nuclear Power Plant, Fulton

A hydrogen gas leak in the turbine building led to the declaration of an “Unusual Event” at AmerenUE's Callaway Nuclear Plant Thursday morning. According to an Ameren press release, the unusual event - defined as “a relatively minor occurrence at a nuclear power plant that could reduce the overall level of safety” - was declared from 10:21-11:15 a.m. due to “flammable gas detected in amounts that adversely affected plant operations.” The building was evacuated as a precaution and the warning was lifted once testing indicated the hydrogen level had declined. The source of the leak still is under investigation. According to the release, there was no release of radioactivity to the environment above normal operating limits and there was no danger to plant workers or area residents. Operators had shut down the plant earlier Thursday to replace power supply to certain plant controls. Ameren officials said all appropriate federal, state and local agencies were notified of the incident. According to the release, an unusual event is the least significant of four emergency classifications established by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission.

1. Solar, wind, geothermal, water..... so many better ways to make power
By the way, did you bring your stopwatch today? But then, sometimes the nuke power promoters go scarce when the news is not good. ;)

2. Cool. Two More Completely Benign Perfectly Handled No Threat To The Public Events.
Looks like the plants are managed exactly as they should be! Always good to see confirmation that our nuclear industry is safe and that the people in charge always seem to be competent and handle the problems exactly as they should, so that we can have confidence in the plants that they run.

Congrats to the workers who make sure these plants continue to be safe!

4. Thank you for reminding us once again that nuclear power continues its record of safe operation.
By catching these normal industrial problems quickly and properly our confidence in this power source of the future continues to grow. Thank you for keeping us well informed of these "least significant" of emergency events.

7. Leaky, seepy....but, me no worry...
Leaks and seeps..but, not near where you live...everything perfectly handled!!!!

...Obviously, there’s been a major radioactive breach from those tanks, but
to date the Department of Energy has refused to publicly report the incident.
