A CATCHER ROAMING AROUND IN THE RYE OF LIFE.
President Obama needs to take a long walk into the fields of America. He needs to talk to the Catcher's who roam around in the rye of life. One particular field of rye has a name: It's a field called the Democratic Underground. We of the Underground voted for change. What a change it would be if Skinner invited the President to this forum and he accepted. Imagine the hope and the promise that would fulfill.

5. Hope
and change are what brought President Obama into office.

I'm not sure, though, that these messes are fixable. I have my doubts.

10. I love DU
But president Obama isn't going to come here and post. As far as hope is concerned, I got plenty.

PS: I really hated that damned book.

11. Who will write the new Great Depression novel?

I hated catcher in the rye also
that was forced upon High school students
growing up.

Holden Caulfield was cast as an anti-hero and his messaged
got mangled for his anti-establishment and the profanity of the novel
back then.

I think we need a new Steinbeck that writes

The Winter of Our Discontent

14. I taught him in a High School class
His experiment with Zen still wouldn't let him get past
his ego.

There is something about Salinger's writing that has irked me for ages
but at the same time fascinated me. I have a love hate relationship with him.

His short stories were much better.
