I think it might be your permanent record card. My teachers always warned me that my permanent record card would follow me the rest of my life and I always trusted and believed my teachers. I sure hope that record card can't tell any tales.

1. i firmly believe that one of the reasons
I'm a bit "paranoid" is due to my momma telling me that God/Jesus was WATCHING ME ALL THE TIME!! And the people would "know" if I sinned.....

do you wonder why I hate anything that smacks of "religion" now?

12. I mention this because I was about to back out of my driveway
last night and I remembered my permanent record card was out there somewhere in the dark behind me. I just turned off my engine and went back in the house.

A failure of data banks would benefit society, IMO.

6. It's part of life... "out there"
I believe we have the technology to do this 24/7/365. It's certainly born out with what we are doing with e-mail and whenever we post on DU. You're found if they want you to be found. Hey, that means that you're never alone!

When I used to speak to my mother on the phone, we'd say hello to the NSA for funzies.

They caught me once, but I lived in another state by then and blew it off. Now I live like a criminal on the lam, forever looking over my shoulder.

The life of crime is just not worth it...

10. What was a joke then is far to real today. You do indeed have a "Permanent Record"
Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 06:35 PM by ThomWV
And every post you place here adds to it, every E-mail you send and receive adds to it, every phone call, every credit purchase, every health record created about you, your driver's license info, tax records, and anything that has ever been said about you at any time in any printed news source what-so-ever. Oh, your cell phone has a GPS in it and your car has a 2-way communications device complete with location monitoring.

16. Look closley at the traffic signals at every intersection for cameras watching that old clunker.
And the trail of registrations, inspections, charged gasoline, and of course CarFax.

They got you. There is no way around it. Some will have more information gathered on them than others, but they got you.

it's not a "clunker" and it only has just over 65k miles on it.

And who cares really. I have nothing to hide.

Not even a tape deck. But goldarnit, the dang thing still starts first time every time and gets 30-35 mpg, so I'm still driving it.

20. I like to think that I'm "eclectic" enough to really screw with their heads
I've been told before that I have "eclectic" tastes.

Maybe that's just a nice way of saying I'm fucking weird, but whatever.

I figure if anyone tried to develop a "profile" based on what I buy, read, wear, or listen to (music-wise) they'd be wasting their time. Unless they want to conclude that there are at least seven different "personalities" all living in my body at the same time.

11. Not just a feeling!
Santa Claus Is Coming To Town

Oh! You better watch out,
You better not cry,
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why:

Santa Claus is coming to town!

He's making a list,
He's checking it twice,
He's gonna find out
who's naughty or nice.

Santa Claus is coming to town!

He sees you when you're sleeping,
He knows when you're awake.
He knows when you've been bad or good,
So be good for goodness sake!

So...You better watch out,
You better not cry
You better not pout,
I'm telling you why.

Santa Claus is coming to town.

the scores of bullies miscreants who were allowed to get away with all sorts of uncivilized and/or obscene things.

I will NOT be a Judas Goat or sacrificial lamb for sub-human creatures that dare to pass as being human.

(in other words, they were talking about your grades and little more. I just hope the record includes college records as, away from the filth, my performance shot up rather nicely in a CIVILIZED, COMPETENT environment.)

Edited on Sun Feb-22-09 07:36 PM by davsand
Damn but that song had some freaky ass lyrics. Any man singing that to me best get a good running start. I had one stalker in my life and i will NOT be putting up with that shit ever again.

Every breath you take
Every move you make
Every bond you break
Every step you take
I'll be watching you

Every single day
Every word you say
Every game you play
Every night you stay
I'll be watching you

Oh, cant you see
You belong to me
How my poor heart aches
With every step you take

Every move you make
Every vow you break
Every smile you fake
Every claim you stake
I'll be watching you...

-------

EW. Just GO away, already!

I'll bet if that vintage tattered record card is out there in the dark somewhere still following me, it still says the same thing to itself that it once said to my mother way back when I was in the first grade..."Hubert does not get along well with others!"

What IF they didn't catch it when you were a kid and you really WERE retarded? Suddenly all those comments on your report cards about "...not living up to expectations..." are proven to be complete bullcrap.

We were ACTUALLY doing better than anyone could have hoped!!!!!

35. It's not the official surveillance devices that worry me...
It's not the official surveillance devices that worry me but the civilians carrying digital cameras and camera-phones that seem to create more obtrusions and invasions in my life.

I'd imagine that should we want the government to stop watching us, we should reciprocate and stop surveilling each other also.

However, as both sides appear to be rather intractable in their refusals to give up this equipment, an impasse is made, and we learn to live with it. :sigh:
