1. Swiftboaters claim we are giving money to the Phillippines in the bill

Nuance!

We are giving retirement payments to WWII vets who fought for us in the Phillipines--a long overdue obligation.

They are allies.

And what about that huge bailout check we sent to the Swiss banks which own us and the Saudi banks which own us--did that help the finance industry? That was on Bush's watch, BTW...

3. They were more than brave allies - they formed resistance guerilla
armies on the various islands and kept huge numbers of Imperial Japanese troops engaged finding them who would otherwise have been released to fight on islands we were invading.

A US Army Colonel - Wendell Fertig - stayed in the jungle and posted hand written flyers in villiages calling for volunteers to help fight the Japanese. So many volunteered, he had to send most of them back home, despite Japanese punishment to any volunteers and their families and towns.

When McArthur finally did return to the Philippines, there were over 10,000 troops and even a marching band waiting for him.

They got nothing for any of that till this bill - the people who did all this must be in their 80's by now.

GOP's really suck.
