FR Drama-Queen Plans For Obama Taking Away The Insulin
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/2191799/posts

I swear they are absolutely losing what is left of their flabby Freeper minds over there. Now this lady is asking HOW TO MAKE INSULIN for her kid when "the worst" happens. She can't ask her Dr. because "she voted for O."

She dosn't want a "scientific way" but something she can make with "animal pancreases, a meatgrinder, alcohol and ice."

:wtf:

She's so dense because she claims to have almost lost the son when the meds weren't kept cold enough. And who do you think would be the first to say any upgrading of our power grids are "pork?" The freepers! :eyes: Hon if you have no electricity for any extended time (LIKE WE DID TO THE PEOPLE IN BAGHDAD FOR INSTANCE!) then that's your worst case scenario right there. Now look at our infrastructure after the heinous BushCo years. DUH!

1. But I thought the point of the evil new totally-socialist regime was ludicrous amounts of healthcare
Shouldn't she be worried that the evil gubmint is going to force her son to take home too much insulin, paid for by some wealthy businessman (excuse me: formerly wealthy, since he was taxed into poverty) who had to pay all his income in taxes so the Democrats could give it away?

3. No apparently he is hell bend on undoing the brilliant BushCo policies
that kept us all alive. So now that we don't have Chimpy & Dick to "save" us from stuff like Saddam murdering us in our beds, it's only a matter of time before Obama decides old and sick people don't deserve to live just like in Nazi Germany!

It's hard following any train of thought in their little fear-mangled brains but I think that's the gist of it....

2. Their's is the side with all the anti-drug fanatics, not ours
(save for a few Ron Paulite libertarians) They are the ones who get all hysterical about drugs, not our side.

4. As a diabetic I ain't worried. Animal pancreases...yuck!
Somehow I don't think we would ever need to make insulin ourselves. Also, the insulin that you don't use needs to be refrigerated but once you open it and use it, there is no need to refrigerate it, it stays okay for up to a month. I also took my insulin with me on a 5 hour trip up to New Hampshire from Connecticut and put in a cooler with ice. It was plenty cold enough. Besides, the kid should be on a insulin pump anyways, duh lady. These people are nuts.

8. Interesting stuff.
This person probably lives in a rural area. That'll be pretty much the worst place possible if you need technological stuff like insulin. If she's truly worried, she should start thinking about moving somewhere where the supply will be more reliable, preferably near a place where it is made.

In any case, if things get so bad that insulin is no longer available, it probably won't matter.

9. It's not like we have a drama queen shortage at DU.
There are people here planning for the world to go Mad Max too, where everything collapses to the point of no public services, no police, roving gangs taking over our cities and towns, subsistence farming, etc. Although I haven't heard insulin mentioned specifically yet, these scenarios don't leave much room left for insulin production.

The main difference between FR and DU in this regard is who's being given the blame for total societal collapse, not so much the degree of hysteria.

Things are pretty scary right now. I really don't think, however, anything as bad as the Great Depression, and especially worse than that, is all that likely. I'm no expert on economics, and the so-called experts disagree, so maybe I'm just going on unfounded optimism, but it strikes me that the biggest part of the current crisis isn't bad debts and collapsed housing prices but a crisis of confidence, and the disappearance of a lot of imaginary wealth that wasn't ever anything but numbers in ledgers anyway. I have enough optimism to think that the right combination of bailouts and government guarantees and maybe nationalization of the banks should be enough to help us bottom out a bit deeper in our current bad recession, then start turning things around.

10. I have optimism
but I also am a realist and I always prepare for the worst case scenario. Living through natural disasters has taught me that.

11. Here's what you do to make insulin at home
Edited on Mon Feb-23-09 03:46 PM by sui generis
Recipe:

Dump one 5 pound bag of sugar into a bowl of karo corn syrup.
Stir until dissolved
Drink entire gallon of sugar syrup
Before the sugar rush peaks, using a metal spork, create a small neat incision just under the lower left rib. You may have to remove your left breast first, depending on your age and the number of prior children, regardless of gender

Now using several eyelash curlers to keep incision open, separate the fascia using your thumbs and push finger past omentum, more fat tissue, and work entire right hand into incision until large flat-ish horizontal organ is palpated. If you are right/left confused you may be holding your liver. To test if holding liver, give it a good squeeze. If you shit yourself it's probably your liver. If so, repeat on other side.

Now that you have a firm grip on your pancreas, give a good tug. If you are conscious and you have failed to extract your pancreas in one piece, just keep pulling the pieces out until you have most of them. Deposit them into a salad bowl for part two:

Making sweetbreads.

(your recipe goes here)

12. Am I reading this right?
She wants the government to provide insulin for her son, when he should be making it himself? Where, oh where is Rick Santelli? Do we really want our tax dollars going to pay for some Freeper larva's insulin? Are you listening, President Obama?

* * *

Man, that rant just gets stupider the more you apply it. I wonder why NBC keeps billboarding it?

19. Obama = "not white" = "third world" = no insulin
As far as I could follow it -- she says type 1 diabetics ALWAYS DIE IN THIRD WORLD COUNTRIES! :eyes:

Uh, isn't it the Freepers who want people like her kid to die if the parents can't afford insulin?

20. That was certainly my understanding
They were okay with just about everyone in New Orleans and Galveston shuffling off their mortal coils after those cities got clobbered by hurricanes. I'm just shocked that they think it's the big, bad old government's responsibility to provide insulin to them.

It's almost like they have one standard when people they don't give a tin shit about are in trouble, and another standard when it's their own flesh and blood. It's one of those "hypo" words, but it's just not coming to me right now . . . hypodermic? Hypotenuse? Hypochondriac? Don't tell me!

* * *

Hypocrisy!
