It sure does seem like everything is going according to plan...as many on DU predicted
How many here -- me among them -- posted about BushCo's anticipation of mass public rioting once the full economic fallout of his policies became reality for Americans? Lots of us did.

The "conservative" sites claimed we were nuts and doom-and-gloomers, and all the usual pap. But here we are...at this phase of our gloom-and-doom, and all the news shows are starting to ask "what's going to happen, when will Americans start to revolt?"

Once again driven by the media, exactly according to script, we're told that people are getting "fed up" with government bungling and corporate greed. We're all pissed off, dammit, and we're gonna be marching in the streets soon!

(Shh...Fortunately, Halliburton has the prisons ready for us!)

Keep watching, America. Keep watching. They'll tell us exactly when we need to turn on Obama. The "failure" meme is everywhere already (except in the polling of actual Americans). Git yer pitchforks ready.

5. And the "oh please with the doom and gloom, the market's not going to hit 9000" posters.

2. You got it exactly right
Placated the public and diverted their attention while the bank was being robbed in broad daylight.

3. It's still going to take a lot to get them "off their tractors" to quote Futurama.
Although I abhor David Hume, I think he had a valid point about human behavior: people won't push for change until they're sufficiently agitated. As long as the TV works and we can get food, we'll be relatively complacent as a whole.

4. Perhaps it is going as planned.
I have notice a concerted effort by the Right wing media to whip up the bigots and nuts into a frenzy
Perhaps they will be the ones that take to the streets but with guns and then there would be no choice but to declare martial law.
Perhaps that will be the que for the military to seize power and select a president.

If progressives are smart they will have a plan just in case something like that did happen.
