1. K&R! I use this chart to remind my RW friends

That we have been here before (high debt to gdp ratio) and we will make it out of it again just like we did then.

It's also a painful reminder to them who is actually fiscally responsible and who is not.

3. They love throwing the GDP into arguments
most people just disengage at that point and the speaker sounds more intelligent than they are

2. The only thing I'd change about this chart is the direction.
"Up" is always considered "good," so by making it upside-down, you can clearly see--at first glance--which administrations were irresponsible.

5. That chart proves that Bill Clinton was our nations' best president...
Bush and Reagan increased the debt dramatically. Assholes. I can't believe Reagan's so popular...hell, even Carter decreased the debt and Republicans say he's the worst president ever, LMAO!

12. Realize too that Carter was POTUS as we had a fundamental shift in our economy
we no longer were steel and cars at least not to the extent that we had been
