Asian markets are open right now and have just hit a five year low. Usually we follow them so expect DOW under 7000 tomorrow.

3. We're already at 1997 levels on the Dow
Sometimes it's hard to tell which market drives which. Our ass kicking today may be driving it. I've see the foreign markets take a beating and the US follow with a pop. It depends, but look out below.

9. Dow futures were up 90 points last night
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 01:33 AM by thewiseguy
It really does not mean anything.

I do not think Dow will have a huge swing up or down for tomorrow.

6. Asian Markets normally follow ours, not the other way around.
YOu need to look at Dow Futures for indication of the "future".

7. Yeah, but the after-market news that the fed government
is clearing the way for nationalization will certainly freak out Wall Street.

8. Im not sure itll go under 7000 in the next 24 hours...
Normally when its testing new lows and is about to hit a psychologically significant milestone, some type of manipulation takes place. Ive seen it in the past. For some reason the market shoots up and the USD drops quick.

13. And yet Citi and BAC were UP.
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 02:12 AM by TheWatcher
Go figure. The Criminals NEVER cease to Amaze.

It looks like Nationalization on Citi is all but a given.

The announcement of 40% appears like it will be done incrementally.

I REALLY thought there would be another hysterical, fake, manipulated, bounce today, as the Overnight Futures pointed to that (+121) and the coordinated efforts in Asia and Europe. The Market Started out that way, but it sure did not end up that way.

The situation with our Economy is deteriorating rapidly, it would seem.

Massive unrest continues in different countries across the world, and Iceland, who not too long ago had one of the highest standards of living in the world, has seen their Government fall, and they seem to be slipping into chaos.

Also, news not reported in this country, there have been riots and uprisings in Guadaloupe as well

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/worldnews/article-1150062/Britons-flee-French-island-Guadeloupe-rioters-turn-white-families.html

Things are getting ugly.

Here Behind The Ignorant Curtain they have been keeping most if not ALL of this news from us.

After all, we have to be protected from the Menace that is Michael Phelps, and kept up to date on who's leaving Grey's Anatomy.

Like I said things are not only deteriorating rapidly here, but the rest of the World as well.

If you want to get a better idea of the creeping reality for Retail, check out TwixVoy's other post tonight.

It doesn't bode well.

Update On the Overnight Futures:

Still up (+28), but well off the Highs, and deteriorating.

The game, as they say, might just about be up.

16. Let it rip ....... it is called "Capitulation"
We will see the bottom in the next 3 to 6 months, and then real recovery after that. The accumulation phase of the market cycle is about to begin.
