The Myth of Republican Fiscal Responsibility
I scarfed this graphic from Crooks & Liars, because it is so clear and unarguable. It is to be shown to any remaining republicans you may know... especially the small businessmen, chamber of commerce local bully-type republican...You know.. The ones who still pretend to be reasonable...

Since their pocketbook is the only yardstick they use to measure well-being. perhaps it will help you pierce their thick hides. Make sure they know it is their ox being gored!!

1. Tax & Spend Conservatism
They lower a few taxes, and make a big show about it. Then spend all of what they take in and way more. Overall, taxes barely fall, as property taxes and sales taxes go up to cover other shortfalls.

So, they really don't reduce taxes, because that's not really possible. There is an equilibrium and trying to stop it with "tax cut" rhetoric is like stopping a glacier with a doorstop. It's just naive and stupid.

The other thing to keep in mind is that under RNC control, GDP growth is generally poorer, and unemployment is worse. So, they hurt the overall economy and borrow more money than anyone else.

But, they're supposed to be the fiscal smart crowd. Just silly.

3. Actually, republicons are 'borrow-and-spend' radicals
They just pass their Massive Debt onto the children and grandchildren -- the opposite of real conservativism.

7. Got ya GAC - but I wanted to make the point that...
rather than stand up like people of integrity and say 'we need taxes' the republicons lie and obfuscate and spin, and then rather than taxing and taking responsibility for it, they just borrowed, borrowed, borrowed and passed the Financial Weight on...

Very deceitful. Very corrupt. Very un-American. Very Republicon.

8. Yep
And btw, since i make good money, i'm one of those willing to pay a little more in taxes if that's what it takes to get the train back on the rails. So, hopefully i'm one of those who are standing up with your version of integrity.

10. The Bigger Con Game...The Rich Suckering The Wannabes
The biggest advantages under repugnicans always went to the very rich...but it was framed so that the "Joe the Plumbers" also could be hooked. If you weren't rich, you surely wanted to be...and to be rich, you needed to keep every dime you make and not give a dime to anyone you didn't like. It's the "conservative" mantras of keeping what you make, but the little guys never really made as much as the big ones did, yet the carrot was waved that if they believed they could be rich, one day they would. It wasn't the guys above that were holding them down, but the guys beneath that were.

The republicons pay a Demagogue Draft Dodging Drug Addict like Limbaugh $38 million a year to lie and spin to the "Joe the Plumbers" and the 'joes' and 'janes' suck up the republicon high-tech mindf*ck propaganda and ASSUME THE POSITION to be repeatedly reamed by the fatcat bigmoney materialistic interests that are at the occult heart of Republicon Homelanderism.

6. You Make Too Much Sense, Professor...
The devils are always in the details. The claim of lower taxes has always meant doing so without making real sacrafices. The money always came in from the backdoor...excise and sin taxes and fees or defecit spending. In the early 90's, I believed that the GOOP encouraged the defecit for their own interests. In those days, the government didn't borrow from China, but from our own large banks...and the more they borrowed, the more interest the banks made. It got even sweeter as the debt grew...the principal was never touched and we ended up paying interest on the interest. Clinton helped to fix this mess, and then the boooshies just picked up where poppy left off and went into hyper drive with it.

These people remind me of the person who will glaly "advise" you on your finances but they'd clam up if you ever asked about theirs. They're selfish and short-sighted...believing that they're entitled to an "American dream" that means having little responsibility to the general welfare. But for 25 plus years, that thought won a lot of elections.

Cheers...

And, yep, they won a lot of elections with that empty rhetoric for too long.

That post triggered someone to get mad enough to get a post deleted? I didn't even say anything harsh. Must have been a troll.

15. the typical republican will disbelieve any chart if you give him a tax cut
the "logic" of the typical republican is the logic of the typical bribe-taker.

slip a twenty in my pocket and i'll believe you were never here tonight.

slip more after-tax money in my pocket and i'll believe that a military that already outspends the rest of the planet needs to spend billions more on a single weapon. or stem cells have feelings. or whatever else you want me to believe.

same logic.
