It's a technique used to great facility by other countries. It's hard to deny the sea of anger when it moves as a single colored animal. Our protests are hippie based and I love the colorfulness and yet, I think the lack of uniformity (I know asking Democrats to conform is like asking cats to swim in a straight line, but....) hurts us a bit as well as our tendency to have as many causes as colors on our tie dye t-shirts. One cause, one color, one focus for each protest.

1. There are pros and cons to this idea. But I think that overall the benefits
outweigh the negatives.

Printing the state and city where you are from on the shirt might be fun.

2. Sure because that won't show from the arial shots and that's what gets the coverage
as much as the mainstream wants to ignore and has ignored many huge protests.

3. Great. I vote for taupe.
I'm sure an all-taupe protest would solve everything.

4. It's a viable idea but the media can ignore us just as easily
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 09:17 AM by lunatica
and people like Bush can dismiss us by calling us a 'focus group'.

Unfortunately what will get attention will be violence. Even in the anti-war demonstrations during Vietnam they didn't get attention till they became violent. My only hope is that the violence will be mostly against property, but I fear that's a pipe dream. It will most likely be violence against the protesters and they'll test out all their new crowd control toys.

6. So answer me this and I am serious
Why did so much attention get paid to the latino protests here in the US but when a million of us went to Washington, it was damn near a media blackout? As a matter of fact, we've had many protests with huge numbers of people, bigger numbers of people than protested the Vietnam war and yet, most people think no one is bothering to protest because of the media black out. How do we get around their filter and how did the latinos do it. The sea of white shirts helped, but I'm quite aware that that wasn't all of it. What got the media to cover that but gets them to black us out?
