Tucker Carlson Joins Cato Institute

Tucker_2.23.jpgFormer CNN and MSNBC political host, and Dancing with the Stars contestant, Tucker Carlson has joined the Cato Institute as a senior fellow.

"I've admired the Cato Institute since I first read its publications, passed around like samizdat on my college campus," said Carlson. "When I moved to Washington, I discovered that my impression of Cato had been right: The people I met there were some of the smartest, bravest and most interesting in the city."

Carlson will write a book on the state of the American political system. He'll also represent Cato through other writings, media appearances and public speaking engagements.

The Cato institute is a Libertarian think tank established in Washington, DC in 1977.

3. Or because his daddy is connected.
His father paid for a big part of the Scooter Libby defense fund, and is one of those Republicans you don't hear much about.

2. Oh I'm so glad
I was worried that Tucker's Wingnut Welfare might come to a halt, and he'd have to get a real job (can you imagine cleaning up the messes he'd inevitably leave?). Thankfully, the nitwits at the Cato Institute recognized a kindred spirit, and Tucker can spend the next several years telling us all how useless poor people are, and how what he does it "work," but that what we do isn't "work," or at least not deserving of a living wage. And he'll continue to pick up a fat six- or seven-figure salary.

God bless you, Cato Institute!

6. Cato Hates Everyone...
I saw bowtie boy back from his exile the other day. And as always, his mouth moves and the shit flows upstream.

The other night, Bill Mahrer spoke with Ron Paul about the economy, and I thought for a moment I was listening to Herbert Hoover. All the things the "libertarians" and "fiscal" conservatives claim would fix the economy sounded like all the same claptrap that Hoover tried in 1930-32 that only made things worse.

At least it's not the AEI or Heritage Institute...Cato is for the wannabes who don't know what they don't like, but they sure know they don't like it.

7. ..and it's a tax deduction for their rich contributors.
Politics isn't charity, yet these "think tanks" thread the needle.

How in the name of hell contributions are tax deductible to such things as the Heritage Foundation and Cato, etc, whose number one, ONLY job, is to crank out political propaganda, is beyond me.

Dang, I can't remember who the fourth member of Quadro-Kato is!

Might as well be Tucker! Let Bruce Lee use him as a punching (and kicking) bag.

11. Has anyone noticed the downsizing of IQ in the Republicans?
Maybe it's the inbreeding effect of lockstep rubberstamping without focus or reason. Like wind up little soldiers all walking into a wall, or lemmings off a cliff, or senseless circular firing squads.

and vice versa. A match made in heaven. Maybe they can get Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter and have a threw way debate.
