TX Reeps to force ultrasound on pregnant women.
It's ugly here in Texas, at least for women
and the unemployed or partially employed.

http://www.statesman.com/blogs/content/shared-gen/blogs/austin/firstreading/entries/2009/02/24/will_perry_block_unemployment.html

Anti-abortion activists are gathering like
vultures for the kill, and the state
legislature will be watching a live
ultrasound today before deciding on the
future for pregnant women.

The Reeps want to pass a law making the
ultrasound mandatory for every pregnant
woman.

And Perry is considering blocking the
unemployment part of the stimulus package.
Jindal might do the same in La.

Sheesh.

2. Can't we just let the slave states leave and form their own version of utopia without polluting
the rest of the country?

As long as there are not consequences associated with actions, this kind of shit will continue to happen.

3. We'd have to evacuate all the non-whites, first
and that could be costly.

4. Certainly less that the federal government sends to those states. It would be net gain, even with
that expense.

5. What's their point? AFAIK most abortions are performed before 3 months
so you won't seer anything on an ultrasound...at least nothing the average person can recognize! I'm sure what they're hoping for is to show the mother a living, moving person to discourage them from going through with the abortion, but short of at least 6 months that's just not going to happen.

I've had people show me those little pics they give you from the ultrasound. They're usually all excited. To me, they all look like trying to pick images out of cloud formations. If you have a great imagination, you can see almost anything!

6. They want to drive up the cost
so fewer clinics can afford the equipment to stay open and fewer women can afford to get abortions.

This is an evil law passed by evil men.

8. My recommendation is we troop down to Austin and demonstrate what a 1st trimester u/s looks like.
Right in the middle of the house floor. In living color.

(For those of you who don't know, a first trimester ultrasound is transvaginal, not transabdominal.)

9. Wow! Nice that you Texans have the extra tax dollars to spare for that!
How many babies do you guys make there every year anyway?

How about illegal aliens? I would assume the lives of their unborn children are just as sacrosanct as those of American citizens?

11. Texans. Call your Sate Legislators!
It doesn't matter what Governor Perry decides. The ultimate decision is up to our elected State Legislature. They will be the ones to vote on what parts of the stimulus Texas accepts. Find your State Representative and State Senator here:

http://www.legis.state.tx.us/

Call each Senator and Representative and tell them you want Texas to accept all the Stimulus Funds. Tell them about the economy in your district. Speak from the heart and keep your cool. Individual Texans have the chance to affect how these funds are allocated. Call now.
