the big bowl of steaming shit on the nations dinner table is ice cream with magic sprinkles and we shouldn't be afraid to take big bites out of it.

1. When has this president ever spoken down to you, or me? I
don't recall him ever doing so.

4. I'm thinking it will be a little of both, as the poster above you pointed out he's
been pretty straight forward on this stuff, but the government does want us to eat a little of the shit.

13. No, I'm not. Everyone has mentioned him putting more "hope" in the speech

I used different terminology for it.

15. That doesn't change the fact that he will be speaking to us about it.
He can talk about it in reality or he can talk about it with hopefulness.

20. that is what the media is saying for him to be more hopeful
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 11:31 AM by bdamomma
can we just stick to the reality of the situation, we see or some of us see that what the country is going throough won't be a easy fix and we will have to remain hopeful. This too shall pass.

19. I do not equate...
hope with ice cream with magic sprinkles.
Hope is responsible for a heck of a lot of changes.

3. My guess, it will be a reality sandwich...
...with reassurances that his overall plan will work by mid-year.

5. If this was December
I'd say your analysis was spot-on. But this is February, and I'll bet a shiny nickel that we will not be hearing meaningless "I unnerstan'" phrases from the leader of the nation. Bush's chief product was his "I unnerstan'" {insert complicated situation here}, and for eight years nobody asked the obvious question: What does that mean, you "unnerstan'" the complicated situation? Because as sure as I'm sitting here, Bush didn't have the first clue about so many situations, from Iraq to Afghanistan to the Middle East to health care, but he claimed to "unnerstan'" all of them.

6. At the very least, he won't speak in threes, like Bush did.
Sound, pause.....Sound, pause.....Sound, pause.

That used to drive me absolutely batshit.
