Why the hell did the Senate seat Burris last month?
Didnt they know that his seat would be seen as tainted? Why didn't they investigate his ethics prior to him taking the seat?

(hehehe, I said "taint")

2. It was also an over-zealous attempt not to appear to be condeming him for Blago's crimes
Funny, that.

6. If by "rush" you mean Bobby Rush, and if by judgement...
you mean "don't want to get labeled racist", then yeah, it was a rush to judgement.

3. Because they were pressured into it, by a lot of people on here, too.
They also needed the vote, Blago hadn't been impeached, Quinn wasn't in a position to pick anyone yet.

5. Because public opinion was for it, and because they didn't really have legal grounds not to. nt

7. They needed to vote?
Remember that the stimulus package passed just even in terms of what it needed. Burris' vote was one of those 60.

8. His taint stinks more than Franken's taint (which has no "scent" of impropriety)
Edited on Tue Feb-24-09 04:36 PM by pacalo
& between the two of them, it should have been Franken's taint sitting in the Senate.

:)

9. Burris should resign and Danny Davis should be appointed
in his place. Rep Davis, who had the foresight and integrity to avoid the clusterf*ck that surrounded Blagojevich. And since Rep Davis is getting up in age, his appointment should last for 2 yrs.

10. They had no clear basis to deny him the seat.
His perjury only recently came to light.
