The guy is a putz - a very dangerous putz.
Upon closer examination, he's about as funny as the anti-feminist palin.

From his Wiki-page on the issues:

Abortion and stem cell research

Jindal has a 100% pro-life voting record according to the National Right to Life Committee.<33> He does not condemn medical procedures meant to save the life of a pregnant woman that would indirectly cause the termination of the pregnancy.<34><35> In 2003 Jindal was reported to have stated that he did not object to the use of emergency contraception in the case of rape if the victim requests it.<35> He opposes embryonic stem cell research<36> and voted against increasing federal funding to expand embryonic stem cell lines.<33>

Same-sex marriage

Jindal opposes the legalization of same-sex marriage, and has voted for the Federal Marriage Amendment to restrict marriage to a union between one man and one woman.<37> In December 2008, Jindal announced the formation of the Louisiana Commission on Marriage and Family, including individuals representing organizations that oppose same-sex marriage, including Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, Gene Mills, the executive director of the Louisiana Family Forum and Mike Johnson, senior legal counsel for the Alliance Defense Fund.<38>

Did you notice who he's associated with?

Civil liberties

Jindal voted yes on making the PATRIOT Act permanent, voted in favor of the 2006 Military Commissions Act, supported a constitutional amendment banning flag burning,<41> and voted for the Real ID Act of 2005.<42> Jindal has an "A" rating from Gun Owners of America.<43>

He was a member of the conservative Republican Study Committee.<44> In 2006, Jindal voted with the Republican Caucus 97 percent of the time during the 109th Congress.<45>

Health care

Jindal also supports co-payments in Medicaid.<46>

Co-payments for Medicaid? I'm unsure of the four-paragraph rule with regard to Wiki so I'll stop here. He's also a creationist. He looks as though he's trying to out-"Catholic" the pope.

Here's the link if you'd like to read more.

4. Stupid like a fox.
Some of these people scare the bejeebers outta me. They are so much like some weird, zombie creatures from a really bad 1950s horror flick. They're too awful to be true, but there they are.

2. How about "Jindal Signs Chemical Castration Bill"
http://www.outsidethebeltway.com/archives/jindal-signs-chemical-castration-bill/

---Lousiana Governor Bobby Jindal yesterday signed the “Sex Offender Chemical Castration Bill” hours after the Supreme Court overturned that state’s law allowing capital punishment for child rapists. It “provides that on a first conviction of aggravated rape, forcible rape, second degree sexual battery, aggravated incest, molestation of a juvenile when the victim is under the age of 13, or an aggravated crime against nature, the court may sentence the offender to undergo chemical castration. On a second conviction of the above listed crimes, the court is required to sentence the offender to undergo chemical castration.”---

3. I saw that on Wiki.
It was one of the points I cut off *chuckle* to not attempt the fates (or the DU mods) regarding the four paragraph rule.

Pretty scary.

10. I'm with EFerrari on this.
It has to be an act. He received honors in biology and is anti-stem cell research. He's a Rhodes Scholar who comes off as some weird doofus when giving a speech.

No, he's hiding a lot behind that face.

30. Did you see him at the presser on the lawn, maybe after the economic summit?
He's a natural leader. Speaks well on his feet, takes charge easily. Smiles, eye contact, good carriage. He did much better there than in the staged setting they stuffed him in.

The man is not stupid. His anti-intellectual Republican script is a script and we'd do well not to confuse his ability with what he says.

19. i agree
he gave a simplistic (to put it mildly) and frankly badly written speech.

and of course i disagree with his policy stances (although I have to admit chemical castration of child rapists doesn't really vex me much.)

it does not therefore follow that he is not intelligent.

there is a natural tendency for people (of any political persuasion) to assume that nobody can be intelligent and hold radically different policy differences.

that's simply a bad assumption.

and it's phenomenally dangerous politically. you do not want to underestimate your opponent.

the fact that the guy is a rhodes scholar is pretty strong evidence he is pretty smart.

i remember another rhodes scholar (clinton) getting elected and thinking it was cool that we had one in the white house.

kind of like how people think it's somehow incongruent to be very smart in biology yet be against embryonic stem cell research (is the guy against ALL stem cell research as claimed or only embryonic ? i don't know. so i'm asking).

having spent some time in academia, one thing is clear. somebody can be very wonkish about field X and hold completely different policy positions about related subjects.

it happens all the time.

iow, some facts are clear. the speech sucked. the delivery sucked. that does not mean the guy is unintelligent. there are plenty of unintelligent opponents out there, but making that assumption based on a canned speech is dangerous.

18. I didn't know who he was for awhile
Then I started hearing him being mentioned as the new Republican up-and-comer, the anti-Obama if you will, and started paying attention. He's a hardcore right winger but doesn't speak in public well, has a Texas drawl that never stops sounding weird coming out of that face, plus he's from Louisiana which doesn't score him any points anywhere outside the South. Honestly I cannot force myself to see him as a player on the national stage. He just doesn't have the goods.

21. creationists..
I'd like to beat the head of every creationist (think Lizzy Bordon..) The anti-science bullshit is why we can't take care of our own future now. Religious shitheads think it doesn't matter how we rape the Earth because nothing we do to it matters, all that matters is doing what we think God wants so we can get to Heaven.

Right now we are killing Heaven! I blame it totally on religion. HOW THE FYCKISOOEHED we could let creationists have such high spots in our government is just an embarrassing dirty clue to what fucking stupid monkeys humans really are.

SHAME
