Christine Pelosi nails The Exorcist |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 04:41 AM by Adenoid_Hynkel
From Politico: "Jindal was ok till he repeated the sick lie that Obama, who praised our troops and vets, will cut their funding. That canard failed in 2008 and should be retired.
Jindal also forgot to mention the billions of dollars the feds have sent to his state post-Katrina. Contrary to his speech, Louisiana did not rebuild alone."
Meanwhile, attorney Walter Dellinger checks in from an alternate universe:
"Bobby Jindal was terrific. His response is the most effective I can remember since Ed Muskie's fireside chat following Nixon's State of the Union in 1970. The staging was beautiful -- the old South governor's mansion with the big magnolia tree in front leading in to his slender young son of immigrants serving as Governor. He presented an alternative vision that was not mean sprited, but optimistic. Will this do for Jindal what the 2004 keynote speech did for Obama?"
But Peggy Jenkins, lawyer from Idaho, has the best line:
"Now, Bobby the great hope for the republican party, doesn't look like a star. He looks like the guy in the parade cleaning up after the horses."

2. He Has That Certain Nothing... |

It's 3:45am and they're still rerunning that train wreck here. There's a difference between staging and stagecraft. Repugnicans sure know staging...we got 8 years of it...but stagecraft...not so much. Bobby had zero confidence or real stage presence...you could see the flop sweat from the moment he started to talk. No doubt he was hearing all day how he had to hit a "home run" and he was oh so careful...and instead of sounding "Raygunesque" he sounded like Mr. Rogers.
Here's the problem...if you're gonna bullshit, you gotta be good at it, and the GOOP bench is void of any real orators, yet ones who could pull off the Raygun bullshit. Laugh at Palin as you want, but at least she knows how to play to the crowds and the camera...this dude looked cable access, not prime time.

3. "He was terrific"-- Uh Huh. No less than David Brooks was on with Jim Lehrer 5 seconds afterwards--- |
|
shaking his head and calling Jindal a "disaster".
I mean, Jesus. I have to imagine it's becoming increasingly difficult for the few Republicans left in that party who actually have functioning brains.
Your fucking house could be on fire, and these goobers would be trying to tell you that tax cuts and school vouchers- school vouchers, for fuck's sake!- will put it out. No, not put it out-- just "empower YOU to put it out yourself."
It would be funny, if it wasn't so pathetic.

5. I will say this . . . for the first time in a long time . . . |

A Republican spokescreature didn't spew bile all over the inside of my monitor inveighing on the moral turpitude of the Democrat party. Sure he was a schlemiel, but at least he was a civil schlemiel.
Of course, once it sinks in how totally ineffective he was, the 'Licans'll tell themselves "dang, we'd better go back to the democrats-eat-babies storyline."
