ACC Tournament tickets available to the public for the first time since 1966 |
|
The economy is now officially in the shitter.
How the hell did we get to the point where you no longer have to be a fat-cat alum to get what used to be one of the toughest tickets in sports?

8. might actually be worth going this year |
|
Given the extreme lack of consistency on the part of ANY team in the ACC (Clemson seems to me the most *positively* consistent, with UVA ranking "consistently" worst), it's a tossup. Watch UNC, Duke, Wake and Clemson all be defeated in the first round. Championship game? Maryland v BC? Miami v FL State? Sheer friggin' insanity in this conference this year. The tourney's gonna be hot.

when you couple
1) the teams and the distances they and their fans have to travel:
North Carolina (400 miles) Clemson (125 miles0 Duke (400 miles) Florida State (200+ miles) Wake Forest (300+ miles) Boston College Maryland (677 miles) Virginia Tech (400 miles) NC State (400 miles) Miami (600 miles) Virginia (400 miles +) Georgia Tech (NA)
2) only 1 team from Georgia
3) the facility holds 50% more folks than previous locations (GA dome holds 36K, other sites in the past hold ~20K)
Also IIRC they had issues with selling the GA dome out back in 2001 and the economy was much better then.
