Uhhh, Bobby? There are several hazardous volcanoes near U.S. population centers.
The Big Island of Hawai'i was declared a disaster area over the summer because of fumes pouring from Halema`uma`u crater on Kilauea. Mount Rainier has the potential to wipe out Seattle with a pyroclastic flow. The dangers of the Yellowstone Caldera have been revisited. There is Mount Redoubt which poses a potential threat to Anchorage. These are only a few of the active volcanoes that pose threats. Ask Colombians or Filipinos if they take the threats of volcanoes seriously.

1. Yabbut....there aren't any in Louisiana, so who cares?
It's the typical Republican attitude. If it isn't threatening my constituents, it's not worth bothering with.

Monitoring volcanos is expensive. It's pork, as long as it isn't in the speaker's district.

5. Indeed
And while I am in no danger of getting hit by a hurricane, I understand how some areas of the country are threatened every year by hurricanes. But now that Gov. Jindal has set down the marker, let's save a lot of money by laying off all those weather forecasters and hurricane watchers. You wouldn't mind, would you Gov. Jindal?

3. But you forget that those are Blue areas
all up and down the west coast and Hawaii are Blue places so that would be a good thing in "Bobby's" simple little mind
