CNN Update-US House says "no" to pet monkeys
House tightens restrictions on chimps as pets

The House has approved a bill to ban the transport of monkeys and apes, including chimpanzees, across state lines for the purpose of selling them as pets, the Associated Press reports.

I guess I assumed it was already illegal to import monkeys for pets.

5. I saw a news item this morning elsewhere here in the UK
but had thought it refered to US imports. Hadn't realised that internal movement was restricted too.

I don't think anyone would want **sh as a pet so he won't be stuck in Texas. :rofl:

6. Capuchin monkeys can be trained as helpers for quadriplegics
let's hope this bill doesn't end that practice, while ending the keeping of untrained primates as pets.
