Who will give the next GOP response to an Obama speech??
It's almost like they draw straws to see who drinks the hemlock. Because they are so stuck in the past, worshiping at the altar of Reagan, that they are not capable of coming up with any new ideas. By promoting these same ideas that got us into the mess we are today, they are killing themselves off one at a time. But, they cannot see that their future lies in agreeing with the new President at least every once in awhile. They keep attacking and attacking with the same old arguments. And they keep falling by the wayside. So long, Jindal! Next?

1. For a group of people fixated on saying we need to look to the future
Edited on Wed Feb-25-09 11:47 AM by Wapsie B
they are stuck in the past. Looking to the future to them means overlooking past mistakes. They believe they can turn their party around on a dime when in fact the opposite is true. They'll have to make some very difficult uncomfortable decisions to avoid remaining the party of some isolated pockets of the Deep South.

9. I don't think the power-brokers in the party like her too much.
They think she's a bit too far to the right and too "strident." She's also a lightning rod for criticism. Of course, if they're in a position where they want to rally their mouthbreathing base, she might be handy.

It's a long way away, but Michael Steele, maybe, or anyone BUT the AK governor.

10. He's A Gift That Keeps Giving...
This guy already has 2 strikes on him within his own party. The more "hip" he tries to be, the bigger hypocrite he and his party becomes.

8. The opposition usually doesn't get a response.
Only for major addresses like a SOTU.

So we shouldn't have to worry about it for another year.

11. There is only an opposition response for the SOTU
The SOTU occurs on an annual basis. The Repulicans will not pick a person to make the response to Obama's SOTU until a few weeks before the speech is scheduled to occur.
