OK, so there's been a lot of Jindal-speech bashing, some of which was called racist, |
|
and that's been dealt with elsewhere. On a different topic, I didn't see much, if any, talk (here or in the media)about a point I made here--that he sounded exactly like a kindergarten teacher reading to his or her class. It's nothing to do with his race or party, necessarily, but honestly--what is up with and adult speaking that way, on camera as a rep of a major party, to other adults and why no comment on it here or there?
My husband said to wait for SNL this weekend and there will surely be a skit based on the "let's all sit quietly and get ready for story time, boys and girls" aspect of his speech. I hope he's right.

See Spot.
See Jane.
See Jane and Spot.
See them ask for tax cuts.
Run, tax cuts, run.

2. That was what got to me the most also, even more than his goofy entrance. |
|
I really thought it was insulting. I don't speak to my fourth graders like that. It would be disrespectful to their intelligence, and I know they would resent it.
I kept thinking about a psycho Mr. Rogers, and his whole speech and demeanor really creeped me out. He really was like a caricature. SNL should have a field day with this.

7. Psycho Mr. Rogers--exactly!! I really wondered why he didn't change into his cardigan and sneakers |
|
as he began his speech. I know the GOP is stacked with low -level thinkers, but honestly, this was just surreal!

3. I hope your husband is right about the SNL skit too |
|
I'm in MS and used to seeing that goofball on tv spewing rightwing nonsense.
I love it that the GOP lights their torches so early, while the wood is so green, the fuel burns out quickly and the torch never seems to catch - they can keep this up and by 2010 and 2012 they will have no one worthy of running.

8. So, does he always speak as if he's changing his audience's diapers? |
|
Thanks for the welcome. I've been reading DU since last fall, but joined after the election and mostly lurk. It's good to know progressives are out there!

9. GDP is the "General Discussion: Presidential" forum |
|
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topics&forum=132and yes, imho, Jindal has always spoken as if he were talking to elementary school kids, I've never been impressed by him.
