What part of NO don't you guys understand? |
|
The Republicans are a real hoot. They lose the majority in the House and Senate in 2006, lose more seats and the White House in 2008. President Obama passes a stimulus package and delivers his blueprint for the country for the next four years in Tuesday night's Congressional address.
How do the Republicans react?
They call up their friends in the media and declare Obama's plans a disaster when they and their party's policies are what got us into this mess in the first place. They rail over tax-and-spend and deficit spending policies of the Democrats when the national debt more than doubled under the watch of their icon Ronald Reagan and doubled again under Bush II.
They say nothing about getting out of that financial rathole in Iraq, offer nothing in alternative energy to wean us from the finite supply of oil in the world and do everything they can to obstruct anything that goes against their ideology.
What part of the election results don't you understand, Republicans?

2. When resentment is the central plank in your political platform . . . |
|
And racism and privilege are the supporting members, you don't have other places to turn when the whole thing collapses. That's why they're behaving like a snake with a broken back.

4. We're the tax and spend party and they're the tax cut and don't spend party |
|
That's their solution. To everything.

11. So true. It was one of the President's best lines last night! |

And the media.
And education.

9. They embrace their delusional world with all their being |
|
They will lie to themselves and everybody else to maintain their delusions in the blaring face of reality.
Typical discussion: (variant of one with my mother)(note, she lives in a place of heavy ice and snow)
Mother: What kind of car should I buy next? TrogL: I'd think about a Subaru Outback or Legacy. They've both got four-wheel drive (I'm not going to try to explain all-wheel drive to her), fairly good gas mileage and good safety ratings. Mother: OK, I'm gonna buy a Honda sub-compact. I don't need anything but front-wheel drive and I'm a good driver so I don't have to worry about safety ratings.
On visit, during snowstorm.
TrogL: It's bad weather out, I'm worried about how your car's going to do in the snow and ice. Mother: It'll be fine. Look out for that snowdrift *crunch*. Ok, maybe this nice man will push us out. TrogL: The snow's getting worse. Mother: It'll be fine. Look out for that snowdrift *crunch*. Ok, maybe this nice man will push us out. TrogL: This stretch of road is really icy. I'm going to downshift so it doesn't get away from me. Mother: It'll be fine. Look out for that snowdrift *crunch*. Ok, maybe this nice man will push us out. TrogL: That parking lot hasn't been shovelled out, maybe I should park on the street. Mother: It'll be fine. Look out for that snowdrift *crunch*. Ok, maybe this nice man will push us out.
...and on and on and on.
