To lighten the mood on names a bit: BBC: 'Most unfortunate names' revealed
From today:

What do you call some of the most unlucky people in Britain?

Justin Case, Barb Dwyer and Stan Still.

It sounds like a bad joke, but a study has revealed that there really are unfortunate people with those names in the UK.

Joining them on the list are Terry Bull, Paige Turner, Mary Christmas and Anna Sasin.
...
Retired airman Stan Still, 76, from Cirencester, Gloucestershire, said his name had been "a blooming millstone around my neck my entire life".

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/7909561.stm

And, on the subject of difficult-to-pronounce names, from 'Goodness Gracious Me', a BBC comedy show with South Asian writers and stars:

26. Oh ,man!
I love names like these.

Went to high school with a poor young man named Dick Biggerstaff.

Had a friend who had a sister named Susan who went by Sue. She married a guy with the last name of Purdue. yep...Sue Purdue.

I had hemorrhoid surgery done by a Dr. Payne.

And, last, and certainly not last, one of my best friends is engaged to a man named Rod Butts. And no, she is not taking his last name.

Thanks for the laugh!

JB

Poor Tommy..sat in the back of the row, and inevitably, as papers were passed to the front, some clown would add a little something to the cursive "T" of his last name

There was an eye doctor names Carl Golightly, and we all called him Dr Treadheavily (he was a client of our travel agency)

we also had clients who named their daughter Miranda..their last name Fanda..(no bo-banda..:)..)
