Arizona House panel backs major bill on abortion
A major abortion bill is advancing at the Arizona Legislature in a new political environment that could provide social conservatives with their first big state-level win on the divisive issue after years of losses due to vetoes.

The House Health and Human Services Committee on Wednesday endorsed the Republican-sponsored bill on a 5-0 vote, with Democratic opponents boycotting the hearing and not voting on the measure. The bill now goes to the full House after what is usually a routine legal review.

The legislation would require a pre-abortion waiting period and mandatory disclosures to women seeking abortions. It also would allow pharmacists and health care providers to refuse to participate in abortion or emergency contraception on moral grounds. Other provisions toughen the existing law on parental rights.

Former Gov. Janet Napolitano, a Democratic abortion rights supporter, vetoed every anti-abortion bill passed by the Republican-led Legislature during six years in office. However, the new bill could find favor with new Gov. Jan Brewer, a Republican and former legislator who describes herself as “pro-life.”

The state's in horrific financial trouble, and the first thing these assholes do when Napolitano leaves is push through some jerkwad legislation allowing refusal of abortion or emergency contraception services, among other things. Fuck them.

6. I'm not looking forward to the next two years.
My sister and I were talking about this at dinner. Brewer and the Legislature are going to have a field day. All the pent-up crap that failed to pass while Napolitano was in office is going to get offered up again. I'm glad she's getting a chance on the national stage, but I sure miss her.

3. I'm sorry to all you Arizona folks but if the shitass republicans all want to move to Arizona
let them. They can have it. They can fight their immigration battles there. the can build a fucking 200 foot tall fence. They can sell or not sell contraception to who ever they want and they can have their washed up senators and their freak-a-zoid governor to run it all. At this point, I must say that I'm willing to sacrifice Arizona as a GOP colony if they will leave the rest of the US to people with brains and more importantly, hearts.

Again, my apologies to you good progressives from Arizona.
