Norm Coleman: Maybe We Need A Do-Over Election
The talk from the Coleman campaign about how the Minnesota election results are unreliable, and that a do-over election could be an option, has now gone beyond just Norm Coleman's lawyers -- it's now coming from the mouth of Norm himself.

Coleman did an interview with Sirius conservative talk-radio host Andrew Wilkow, and discussed the campaign's argument that the court's current strict standards for allowing in previously-rejected ballots must by extension render illegal a whole lot of ballots accepted and counted on Election Night, when local election officials used lax standards:

"What does the court do?" Norm asked rhetorically. "Yeah, you know some folks are now talking about simply saying run it again, just run it again."

"Have another statewide election?" Wilkow asked.

Coleman responded: "You know the St. Paul Pioneer Press is...one of the second largest papers in the state, last week said we're never going to figure this out, just run it again. So you start hearing that. Ultimately the court has to make a determination, can they confirm, can they certify who got the most legally cast votes?"

5. How long can they keep stonewalling
and prevent Senator Frankin from being seated? I realize this is all part of some grand gop plan to obstruct Obama at every turn but at some point this has got to end.

12. Aside from you, Norm, exactly *who* is saying "just run it again"?
I live in Minnesota. I follow the news. I am not hearing anyone saying "just run it again."

But I am hearing a lot of people saying it is time for Norm to just leave the state once and for all. Just run along to your next gig at some "think tank" in D.C.

Was Norm calling for a do-over in 2000? FYNC.

14. I though he wanted to spare us the expense of a recount and that we needed the healing to begin.
Oh yeah, that was when he had a tiny lead over Franken. Now, because he has lost, somehow our solid electoral system is now "flawed", simply because Normie isn't getting his way. Go away Norm.

17. The Court needs to bring this fiasco to an end.
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 10:52 AM by ThomWV
I am pleased that great pains are being taken in Minnesota, but the entire nation is being deprived of a full Senate because of the absurd length of time it is taking to find for the winner. It is time for a final decision to be made and the Senate seat filled - the legal challenges can continue in the background. Baring that Harry Reed should seat Al Franken immediately providing that the legal dispute can continue and should the final result have Coleman winning then Franken would be ousted and replaced by Coleman - an unlikely event.

Zipper Coleman stalls and obfuscates in the courtroom, muddling up the entire mess.

Then a major newspaper start to call for a new election.

And now, Coleman's calling for it, fully expecting the public to be tired of the whole debacle and agree with him.
The suburbanites in the Twin Cities will nod and smile with him like the good dittoheads they are.

Expect these cries of "Do-over! I want a do-over!" to rise in volume over the next few weeks.

Soon Pawlenty will add his cry to the multitude of bleating GOP Sheeple.

Within a few days after that, the mewling whine will be heard in the Senate.

Completely disregarding the simple fact that Minnesota State law has no provision for a "do-over" election.
The laws are clear; if it's within a certain percentage, it triggers an automatic recount.
After that's done, legal claims must be filed within seven days. (?)
The loser doesn't get a "do-over" if he doesn't like the outcome of the legal filings.

Cripes, I hate Norm Coleman.

19. So the trial balloon floated, it seems...
...and Norm feels secure enough to pimp this idea himself. Just not secure enough to say anything more specific than "some folks say."

What a weakling. What a coward.
