10. It is on my local PBS station but it doesn't show it on the schedule - it preempted something so it
says I am taping Antiques Roadshow but I'm not, it is Stevie.

12. Diana Krall, too!! Wow!
Edited on Thu Feb-26-09 08:27 PM by TahitiNut
She's one of the best jazz pianists/vocalists I've heard in a long time. Awesome.

She hanged with Ray Brown ... whom I regard as the best jazz bassist of all time. Phenominal. She does Oscar the way Oscar would want to hear it.

Thanks, Canada!!! :hi:

17. You're probably a jazz lover, too, then. For us, she's one of the greats, I think.
While I'm not a fan of dissonant jazz (a la Spider Martin), my heart will ALWAYS belong to Oscar Peterson and up-tempo jazz. Diana Krall is a master of the genre, imho.

I used to love listening to Marian MacPartland and Gap Mangione (Chuck's brother) and Monty Alexander in person ... and was a jazz house devotee when I lived in Rochester (the Eastman School). Any trip to Washington, DC, was incomplete without at least one night at Blues Alley in Georgetown. New Years Eve was always marked by attending the Preservation Hall Jazz Band performance at the Eastman. My favorite neighborhood restaurant was ownd by friends of the Mangione family ... and we often dined there when the Mangiones hosted whomever was in town, like Dizzy Gillespie. (Love the Diz.)

Diana Krall is a phenom ... just gorgeous and a true master.

Gave my French mom a Diane Krall CD for Christmas, along with Movie DVDs of Oscar winner "La Vie en Rose" and "Parapluis de Cherbourgh" Circa 1964, my Mom's hey days!!
