Republican governors waging class warfare
This woman nails it:

“I don’t understand the whole thing,” said Kelley Joyce, 43, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., about indications from Gov. Mark Sanford that he may reject some of the stimulus financing in that state. “Apparently because he has money and he doesn’t have to worry about everybody else who doesn’t have money.”

Damn right. If you are poor or struggling, they don't give a shit about you. You only get government assistance if you are WEALTHY, honey.

2. Well, actually, that much is true - we are running out of rich people in this country, I thought
I read in the paper yesterday.

But yes, seriously, the top marginal tax rate MUST rise if we are going to be responsible with the federal budget.

4. Just asking them to pay their fair share
If they don't want to, they can always voluntarily "poor" themselves.

3. How do you get rich people to invest more money into the economy???
You impose higher tax rates. Yes, it's that simple.

5. Yep.
Trickle down doesn't generate widespread prosperity. Higher taxes do.

6. It's not the higher tax that runs the economy...
It's the indirect effect that the higher tax rates have on the rich, that expands the economy. Republicans whine that the rich won't invest in the economy if they had to pay higher taxes... No, they will invest more into the economy, and in real property, improvements, expansions, communities, jobs, etc. etc.

Why? Because they would still get to retain ownership in the money that would have otherwise gone to the U.S. Gov't, they would improve things around them, and they would be deciding where their tax money went.

With 'trickle down' economics, this country let everything decay and get sold off to foreign investors. The rich put their money into money market gimmicks and didn't invest into the economy anymore, which eliminated jobs and started a downward spiral for the greater majority in this country.

7. Oh, right. I see.
Yes, and when you look at high tax nations, they are generally more prosperous than low tax ones.
