Governor declares Feb. as the "Month of Marriage".
Alabama Republican Bob Riley dood it.
My local weekly reports the little town councils are adopting this recommendation.

So Feb. is not about "sweethearts" or "valentines " or "love" anymore..
it is about..."Marriage"
and we all know who is and who is not included.

Sigh........

6. I drove the length of Alabama 5 years ago
during the whole Judge Roy Moore flapdoodle and Alabama took the prize for the most toxic radio in Dixie. It was nearly as bad as some of the stuff on shortwave. It's no mystery why so many rural people in that state are so nuts--they have no access to the other side of the story.

It was a great relief when the NPR station in Oxford, Mississippi came in.

8. We should set up like a Radio Free Alabama from a neighboring

state to get the truth out - of course, our signals would get jammed

9. That would requie living in Florida, Georgia, Tennessee or Mississippi
which is a sacrifice I'm not willing to make.

However, I do know a few lefties around Birmingham and I'm surprised none of them has started a low power station to counter the BS from the preachers.

Maybe they want to keep breathing.

11. Somewhat OT, but why don't we have a shortwave presence?
There used to be Radio For Peace International in Costa Rica, but it closed shop.

Maybe one of the nuts who frequents right-wing shortwave would stumble across our station and learn something.

13. Of course, dear Warpy, I know you exlude me from that generalized statement.

16. Operative words: "so many"
Quite different from "all."

19. Young sang it years ago.

Alabama, you got
the weight on your shoulders
That's breaking your back.
Your Cadillac
has got a wheel in the ditch
And a wheel on the track

Oh Alabama.
Can I see you
and shake your hand.
Make friends down in Alabama.
I'm from a new land
I come to you
and see all this ruin
What are you doing Alabama?
You got the rest of the union
to help you along
What's going wrong?

12. Congratulations. Life really does improve once the dust settles.
Mine was November, 24 years ago. I was never so happy in my life that anything was over as I was that day. It took about 2 years to build myself back up, but I did it.

I guess being married to me was a better deal than being married to him was because I never remarried and he's gone through 3 more wives.

18. Oh no, marriage instead of love.
And as we all know, the two are mutually exclusive.

Well, maybe it will only be in Alabama. After all, surely a state like California wouldn't ...
