Cockburn: Is Nancy Pelosi Really Against War Crimes?
Commenting on Pelosi's tough talk on Rachel Madow's program Wednesday, today's "CounterPunch Diary" reaches a surprisingly uncynical conclusion:

Is it even remotely possible that senior officials in the Bush administration - maybe even at least one of the top two - will be the target of public war crime hearings and even criminal prosecutions, here in the United States? From dismissal only a few months ago by leading Democrats in Washington as unthinkable, the glorious possibility can at least be glimpsed in the middle distance. . . .

(snip)

In active English, Pelosi's pious phraseology about no one being "above the law" translates into something like: "These guys are out of power and their popularity ratings are in the toilet so now it's safe at least to talk about turning the dogs on them."

(and to make a long story short)

If Pelosi feels it politically meet to open the door a crack, we should welcome the opportunity. We’re looking here at a campaign for retribution that will last well beyond an Obama presidency and which may indeed include Obama himself among its targets, if he pursues his present policies.

Good article, and if Pelosi wants to step up to the prosecution plate, more power to her -- Feinstein is unlikely to do anything with her Senate intel committee.

1. I think I pretty much agree with what Cockburn writes...
It should be remembered that he would accuse Lenin of being a right-winger.

And I do wish Cockburn would have the spelling legally changed to "Coburn." Reading his name reminds me of gonorrhea. :)

2. Is Cockburn REALLY a lefty? He bashes Democrats a LOT harder than Republicans.
And he's a global warming denier as well.

but I know what you're getting at about Dems. My take is that he starts from the position that every repuke is a thoroughly corrupt lying corporate tool, so he doesn't need to spend too much time pointing it out.

3. Feinstein is a Gatekeeper, and why she hasn't been called to task about
Her voting for a war resolution that immediately threw 25 to 28 million dollars worth of war contracts to her husband, I don't know.

I reallyw ant to see those who have detroyed this country go down. And it bothers me that if we leave Cheney a free man, he could very well be setting his "secret government" dogs on to smashing Obama.

6. Hey, man. Bruce Cockburn has made some fine music in his day.
Despite having a name that is pronounced "Koh-Burn" yet spelled "Cockburn".
