No comment on his comment. However, I knew when the Rs were going to use Twitter that we would have more to enjoy. I am well behind in my snark about the Rethugs. I can't keep up.

1. Well you start by keeping it clean
And perhaps giving it a trim to make it look kind of cute.
And a trip to the gynecologist every year is a good idea.

I am sorry I just could not resist it...I am so bad.

3. McCain probably hasn't had one of his houses flooded
by a beaver dam, if he had then maybe he'd be more inclined to consider this a problem.

Beaver dams can be disruptive; the flooding can cause extensive property damage, and when the flooding occurs next to a railroad roadbed, it can cause derailments by washing-out the tracks, or when a beaver dam bursts and the resulting flash flood overwhelms a culvert. This disruption is not limited to human geography; beavers can destroy nesting habitat for endangered species, and often destroy mature trees for which they have no use.

Physical damage caused by beavers in the Southeast is estimated in the millions of dollars annually. Examples of this damage include timber and agricultural crop loss, damage to roads, septic systems and other property by flooding, and destruction of ornamental plants used in landscaping.

6. good beaver or bad beaver?
Impacts

Opinions vary widely on whether the beavers' activities are beneficial or detrimental, and depend on how the interpreter is affected by their activities.

8. that's why the emphasis on management
as opposed to extermination or the other extreme of leave it to beaver(s) :giggle:

a guy down the road from us has two ponds which feed into a small river. every couple of years he has to call the local wildlife authorities to trap and remove a pair of beavers, then knock down the dam. If he didn't, the ponds would overflow and flood the road as well as a few homes in the immediate area.

10. I wonder if he owns a house in an area that would be susceptible.
And if he does, whether someone could deliver a dozen beavers to nearby waterways.

22. are republican beavers clean shaven, and liberal beavers a bit shaggy?
Just curious. We need a way to monitor the spending so it does not favor the republican ones over the democrats.

They LOVE beaver stories!

But seriously, folks, I would think that managing beavers has something to do with not letting too many of them dam up the streams, which I can understand might cause problems--and I'm a city girl!
