Tin foil hats turn into knitted scarfs
Edited on Wed Mar-04-09 05:41 PM by ThomWV
Here it is only wednesday and already we've got a month's worth of news. Memos released by the Justice Department indicate someone in the Bush Administration must have asked an interesting question - could the military be used to pick up and hold any US citizen even in the USA - no charge required, just picked up on the order of the President? The answer in the form of a Justice Department Memo, sure, no problem. Got it on paper. Hail to the Chief.

Now we look back to another matter. Warantless interception of every bit of electronic communications by everyone in the country by the quasi-military Agency, the NSA. And they said it couldn't be done. Well it is being done on each and every one of us every day and it has been going on for years.

Now put the two together. Makes you consider the wisdom of that 6-beer rant you posted late one november night in 2005 calling for the immediate ouster of the Administration - doesn't it? That late night pounding at the door as the storm-troopers (private sole-source contractors from the Carolina's doing the work better and cheaper than Government employees possibly could) broke in might have been closer than you thought.

Is anyone starting to see a pattern here? It think it is becoming increasingly clear that we came within a hair's breadth of complete tyranny in this country. So the question we have to ask is, is this OK? Can we leave it like this? Sure, the memo has been recended, and sure the NSA has slipped from mind and laws have been revised so no one is guilty of anything, but what is really any different? We had a bad President and now we have a good one, no reason to worry about it anymore. Is that enough?

Hail to the Chief.

1. Exactly the reason why investigations/prosecutions MUST happen
NO, we cannot "just move on" and "not look back" no matter what sort of fairy land Obama seems to want to live in.

And the reasons are so obvious.
