God, this man irritates me!! He was just touting the Repug "can't give money to people who bought houses they can't afford" meme. Also complaining about Obama's plan spending too much money. See the beagle below? Well, she understands these matters better than Roland Martin.

3. He has great tips on bass fishing ...
Serious ...

Am I the only one that can't get the image of that *other* Roland Martin out of my head when this guy's name pops up?

Yeah?

Okay. I'll go back to the lake now.

4. LOL!
I'd be more interested in what THAT Roland Martin has to say about the economy.

7. Certainly couldn't be any worse ...
And there'd be bass, so you'd know where that smell comes from, unlike the other Roland, where one suspects the lingering odor of the sulfurous incense he burns to remind him of his home in hell.

6. Smarter than your average beagle,
but still about 20 IQ points below your average border collie.

And there's no such thing as too many tummy-scratchings. Or too many treats...no matter what the vet says.

on what he said.

11. Really?
I thought he was on point during the primaries, campaigns and the election. Haven't heard him lately. That's surprising to read. I'd like to see that transcript, too.

12. On point about what?
He's a crazy fundie who's pretty up front about his hatred of gays, among other things. And on economics, he just doesn't know what he's talking about, and has no business on panels with actual experts. A Master's in Christian Communications does not a journalist make.

Edited on Sat Mar-07-09 07:08 PM by Fire1
Roland Martin. When you say he is a 'fundie,' I assume you mean, republican. If so, do you have facts to back that up or is that an assumption? And 'he doesn't know what he talking about' on the economy? Well, somebody at that station thinks he has something to bring to the table or he wouldn't be there. I like the man and if you don't that's your perogative but I don't march in 'lock step' with any ideology, person or persons.

17. Me neither. Fundie=fundamentalist
He's a full-fledged member of the Religious Right. I find this column particularly telling:

http://www.rolandsmartin.com/page/news.cfm?ArticleID=10

Here's just a taste:

What leaders of this effort must come to understand is that the fundamental issue is that gays and lesbians want to be accepted and embraced by the church, and not acknowledge that they are engaged, in the eyes of the church, in sinful behavior. This, regardless of what Sharpton or anyone else has to say, is the reason there will never be a happy medium on this issue.

As individuals, gays and lesbians - those claiming to be born this way and others who say they have evolved to live a homosexual lifestyle - are naturally going to want to live their life as they see fit. And yes, the last thing they want to do is sit in a church and listen to someone from the pulpit castigate their way of life. I get that. But someone who is living with a member of the opposite sex while not married also doesn't want to hear that being preached. And surely the man or woman cheating on their spouse prefers not to hear their behavior cast as being sinful and unGodly.

But for Christians, going to church is not supposed to be a feel good exercise. We are expected to be convicted, and encouraged to walk away from sin and live a more Christ-like life. In my church, this goes for the woman who is an alcoholic, the child who continues to be disobedient to his parents, the young lady who is hell-bent on stealing, and the person who is gay.

the Pat Buchanans and right wing naysayers and nut jobs during the campaign and discredited the lies and debasing portrayals of Democrats and Obama by Palin and McCain.

16.  . .
Even when reporters do know the difference, the conventions of he-said-she-said journalism get in the way of conveying that knowledge to readers. I once joked that if President Bush said that the Earth was flat, the headlines of news articles would read, "Opinions Differ on Shape of the Earth." The headlines on many articles about the intelligent design controversy come pretty close.

Or the same reason they gave the moron rick sanchez a freaking show.

They spew what CNN wants to hear.
