Can we impose fines for Littering on DU?
I have no problem with a silly thread. I don't even have a problem with a follow-up thread ridiculing the original silly thread.

But here is one of the biggest problems with DU - one poster has started at least 6 threads largely on the same subject - To ridicule the original John Edwards house thread. I have an eight year old son who, when he was six, learned that a joke is no longer funny after the third or fouth time. Yet we have supposed adults here who were absent when that lesson was taught.

Mental illness is a bitch.

2. Haven't you heard?
If you tell a joke one time and no one laughs, just tell it again. Then tell it again. Then a few more times, even though everyone heard you and still didn't laugh.

After that, maybe someone will finally laugh just to make you shut up? LOL.

9. Just like Bush repeating his justifications for the war.
If you say them often enough of course people will "get it."

7. It must be like that episode of SpongeBob where he ripped his pants
and he tells the same joke about it over and over until Squidward and Patrick and everyone at Bikini Bottom is just sick of SpongeBob's "I ripped my pants" joke.

Finally he realizes it isn't funny anymore.

Poor SpongeBob.

8. If you use the "ignore thread" feature, it goes away.
It's a little irritating, but it's the fastest remedy.

11. But when the pop up as fast as you can click ignore, it's actually
disruptive.

The easiest remedy is for the mods to delete them and prevent the member from posting for 10 minutes or so until they get over themselves.

24. That's only true as long as you aren't a mod.

There are other things going on that the mods are already busy with. They don't need janitorial duties piled on top of them, especially when it's just as easy for us to click a handful of x's.

Edit: I agree that it's irritating, though, and I've complained about it myself.

12. I hear ya. By the way...
Donald Rumsfeld is giving the President his daily briefing on Iraq. He concludes by saying: "Yesterday, 3 Brazilian soldiers were killed."

"OH NO!" the President exclaims. "That's terrible!" His staff sits stunned at this display of emotion, nervously watching as the President sits, head in hands. Finally, President looks up and asks, "How many is a brazillion?"
