Talk about conservative hypocrisy... |

Edited on Thu Mar-12-09 10:48 AM by misanthrope
...All the right-wingers I know are quick to say Obama's first 50 days in office have led the nation down the road to ruin, that America is dying and there's no way to bring it back now. They say his entire term can be stamped "catastrophic" at this early date.
But these are the same folks who deny the existence of climate change by claiming we don't have enough data to make that determination, that more than a century of active and detailed meteorological records are too small a sample to make that determination.
You can't have it both ways...

I swear, those people are nuts. Sadly, we must tolerate them.
And make fun of 'em every chance we get.
As for Rush? I hope he succeeds! He's leading his oblivious followers into oblivion.

2. Well, I must do more than tolerate them... |
|
...I must acquiesce. They fill my world. I go to the grocery store, gas station, restaurants and they're everywhere. I go to work and they run that, too. My family is comprised of them, most of them being more than just political conservatives, but fundamentalist members of the religious right. I live in a town run by them, in a state ruled by them and a region that controls the GOP now. Even our media is dominated by righties and attention whores.
Most of the time, I feel as if I'm under siege.

You sound doomy. Laugh at them. Yes, it is hard to do, but laughter is the best medicine.
Bush was hilarious. Rush is a comedian. Their votes are comedic.
Laugh at them because really they have nothing. Ever since we gained some control over the voting machines (2006 on) they are losers for real.

5. I wonder about that "doomed" thing... |

...I used to feel isolated here but it has changed recently to a feeling of being targeted. The overwhelming conservatism impacts every phase of life, including employment possibilities. Small town with limited horizons and all.
I believe I finally developed depression and have exhibited PTSD symptoms, doing weird stuff in the last few months. I've started physically lashing out in my sleep as a result of dreams wherein I'm being hunted by others.
One night, my wife awoke me in a panic and when I came to, I was holding her down in bed with one arm cocked back as if punch her. It scared the hell out of me and if we had the money, I'd go see a therapist.
I've told her several times I need to relocate but she seems satisfied as long as she's close to her family and a working television.

Confront them. Tell them: "I am a liberal, have you got a problem with that?" Then laugh at their pained expression. They are just bullies and they secretly want to be bullied, so bully them.

4. And they are the same wingnuts who said.... |

The '81 recession was Carter's fault, and the '01 recession was Clinton's fault.
Repugnants ALWAYS want it both ways and there's always two sets of standards. You don't have to be a moran to be a Republican, but it sure is a great start.
