2. That dude has idiot asshole written all over him.
The good people of Alaska certainly deserve better than what they have. Hopefully, Palin's celebrity will also be her undoing, I hear she's not as popular up there now. Maybe something good will come from it after all.

7. His name is Wayne Anthony Ross.
You may have heard of him from when you used to live up here. He's been around forever. Here's a little info:

There's probably not a more controversial lawyer in the entire state of Alaska. I've been told by another DUer whose sister works in the Anchorage AG's office that they're all "shocked and dismayed."

11. Thanks. "Palin picks an anti-sovereignty, anti-subsistence guy for her top lawyer?"
reading those articles, he sounds like a piece of work. Hopefully you guys can get rid of Sarah and this bozo.

18. I'm beginning to think that Sarah has no intention of running for re-election
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 03:46 PM by Blue_In_AK
in 2010. Every move she's made since returning from the campaign has been to appeal to her very hard right national base. She's pissed off Democrats and Republicans alike here with her divisive ways, rejection of stimulus money, off-the-wall appointments.

A letter in this morning's ADN is a case in point:

Strange that Republicans now are repulsed by federal dollars

Does anybody honestly believe that Don Young or Lisa Murkowski would have voted against federal stimulus funding or that Sarah Palin would be threatening to refuse the stimulus funds if Ted Stevens had brought the funding to Alaska? I don't! One third of Alaska's economy depends on federal money and Sen. Stevens was practically worshipped for his ability to bring federal dollars to Alaska. No earmark was to ever too silly to accept, and we were proud of his title "king of pork." The federal deficit was never a concern when it came to funding Alaska's needs. President Obama's stimulus plan is meant to supplement scarce state resources in a slowing economy. Since when are Alaskans reluctant to take federal funding?

Our Republican leaders seem to believe that if they can help Obama to fail, that they will be asked to lead the nation again. They are gambling with Alaska's future the same way Wall Street gambled with the nation's money. It's a gamble that Alaskans cannot afford. It is high time that Alaska's Republicans quit putting petty partisan politics ahead of Alaska's needs and for Gov. Palin to quit running for president and attend to Alaska's business. Our future depends on it.

I think you get both traits with one pick.

At least he wasn't shown ripping the intestines out of the body cavity, or shooting them from a helicopter.

9. Like the Censorship Queen Would Know an Honest Attorney
No she didn't censor "Harry Potter", but she did censor "Catch 22" and lots of other revered books, including "Pastor, I am Gay"--published by a rival church to her own. To cap it off, she fired the librarian who defied her and had to hire her back over public outcry.

Sarah Palin is a far-right-off-the-chart wackadoo nut job. A prime example of America's new breed of "Christless Christians". A cartoon character like Joe the Dishonest Plummer.

And I've known that since I first came to Alaska in 1975. Flamboyant trial lawyers are fine if you want someone high-profile to represent you, but he's a very odd choice for "the people's lawyer," one who is supposed to represent the interests of ALL of us.

22. You have obviously not read "the rest of the story"
Edited on Mon Mar-30-09 04:07 PM by Blue_In_AK
If he were just "a happy duck-hunter," I'd cut him some slack. Had you read my other links, you would know that he's a homophobic, racist, pro-Iraq war, anti-choice, far-right nutbag, who is not being appointed to this position to represent the people of Alaska, but to cover Sarah's butt when the s*** hits the fan.

Then there's this comment on an Anchorage Daily News article announcing this appointment:

A couple of years ago AWAIC (Abused Women in Aid Crisis) held a forum at U.A.A. about what we can do as a community to decrease the amount of domestic violence in Alaska. Mr. Ross (W.A.R.) stood up and shared his enlightened opinion on the subject. I believe he stated that the cause of domestic violence in America was the women's equal rights movement of the 1970's has emasculated men and thus caused them to beat their wives. To summarize - if women just stayed at home the problem would be solved.

That is the opinion of the new Attorney General of a state that has one the highest rates of domestic violence in the country.

Thanks Sarah.

WAR is NOT the man for this job, period.
