Washington - AT&T, Verizon, Quest Win Giant Contracts

AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and Qwest Communications AT&T Inc., Verizon Communications Inc. and Qwest Communications International Inc. were awarded multibillion-dollar U.S. government contracts Thursday.

The U.S. General Services Administration said its 10-year Networx Universal contracts will transform the U.S. government’s telecommunications infrastructure worldwide.

A second contract series called Networx Enterprise will be announced in May.

Combined, the contracts are worth some $20 billion and could balloon to as much as $48 billion, GSA said.

The continued competition “reflects our goal of providing transformational products and services to our federal customers at the best prices available in the marketplace,” GSA administrator Lurita Doan said.

1. Probably because they are in league with the Bushites; these are the
people that we pay to give our info to the Bush administration. Let's tell them good-bye. The Bushies can support them instead of us peons.

2. Remember - believe it was Rumsfeld who said they wanted a
second network for the government - we would be on one 'internet' - they on their onw 'internet' - which is probably where Bush got 'internets' from, but forgot the timeline for release.
