Bush to do photo-op at Walter Reed
The news of neglected war veterans outraged Capitol Hill, caused resignations at the Pentagon and promises of better treatment from the Bush administration. Now the patients at Walter Reed Army Medical Center get to hear from President Bush himself.

Bush on Friday was to tour the campus for the first time since reports surfaced of shabby conditions for veterans in outpatient housing.

He will meet with soldiers once housed in Building 18, who endured moldy walls, rodent infestation and other problems that went unchecked until reported by the media. Bush declared the situation unacceptable and ordered a full-scale review of care for veterans.

Walter Reed is considered one of the Army's premier facilities for treating the wounded. The revelations of shoddy treatment for those wounded in war was an embarrassment to Bush, who routinely speaks of the need to support the troops.

1. What an opportunistic son of a bitch. He didn't give a fat rat's ass
about these poor schmucks until his criminal cabal got caught shortchanging them on healthcare.

10. And the Media has already started to place blame for Walter Reed on DiFi.

The GOP took a huge hit with this. Rove is already trying to shift blame to Democrats. Just as they're trying to shift blame for Iraq to Dems.

3. he's got a lot of damn nerve
Why even bring up Walter Reed. We are already trashing bush about so many other things. Bush should've just gone to the ranch and cleared some brush.

Why doesnt bush go to New Orleans, WTC site, the pet food factory, Anna Nicole Smith's burial site....

4. Expect his usual narcissistic attempts at appearing compassionate
He'll probably say how he endured a filthy hotel room while on spring break from college one year or compare his bicycle-accident injuries with those of amputees. He'll want to show the wounded that he's suffered himself and so he understands their suffering.

18. of course he'll do that (blame dems - which makes no sense)
but I am guessing he will make some stupid jokey comment about broken bones or something insensitive and oafish.

13. How Long To Drive Across Washington?
This story broke, what, a month ago? It's taken him this long to drive from 1600 Penn to Walter Reed? I could drive it in 30 minutes, if the lights went my way and that's without a BF motorcade. Did he have to wait until they made it sweet and fresh for him 'cause George don't do moldy? If I were Prez, I would have been on the doorstep the morning after the story broke and gotten the mess cleaned up if I had to do it myself. ('Course, my administration wouldn't be in Iraq, wouldn't defund the VA, etc., etc.)

19. But friend, you are possessed of a brain and a will of your own. Our President has neither--well,
he does have KKKarl Rove--only that's no longer working properly, either.
