A warning to any real person mega star Tom Cruise may be depicting in a big screen box office smash: You may get caught up in a Washington corruption case.>>>>snip

Cruise's character in "Top Gun" -- Lt. Pete "Maverick" Mitchell -- was based on former Rep. Duke Cunningham, R-San Diego, who is now in jail after pleading guilty to bribery charges.

And Cruise's character in "A Few Good Men," Lt. Daniel Kaffee, was based on New Mexico's fired federal prosecutor David Iglesias. Iglesias was one of eight U.S. attorneys recently dismissed by the Bush administration.

Cruise is slated to play a Member of Congress in "Lions for Lambs" that also will star Robert Redford and Meryl Streep.

1. Tom Cruise could portray Tom DeLay.
They both have the same first name, and they're both short little shits.

14. Maybe a Foley or a Boehner (mmmm Boehner)
Robert Redford would not direct and act in this movie if he didn't see
something that needed to be said. The playwright is suppose to be
up and coming.

6. Simply put, Tom Cruise can't act.
I won't watch a movie with him in it - he's epitome of "over acting" and no talent. I wish he'd go away.

16. Hoffman,Newman, others would disagree
I disagree that Cruise is just another pretty face. The guy can act, and many of the finest have said as much. besides, he's a democrat, albeit a demonized one here at DU.
"Born on the Fourth of July" is one of the best anti-war movies ever made. And he acted up a storm in that one as well.

10. How about George W. Bush?
portray him in the past in his days as a cheerleading, coke-snorting frat boy without much makeup... then, put on a bit to age him to 2000-2007

13. Maybe Tom Cruise could play himself in a movie
And if the curse is true, he could destroy himself and maybe take some of the Scientologist wackos with him.
