Election thief Acosta (Asst. Atty Gen. Civil Rights '03-'05)
Edited on Fri Mar-30-07 12:48 PM by pat_k
The article Hamlette posted in http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389x538187">Former US Atty says goal of Bush's DOJ was to fix elections, and the current focus on the Bush regime's abusive use of the our judicial branch to steal elections, makes this a good time to highlight R. Alexander Acosta's Role in stealing the 2004 Presidential electon (as well as and others).

Acosta was put in place at Assistant Attorney General of the Civil Rights Division in June 2003. Once his work for the 2004 electons was behind him, Bush moved him to Florida in June 2005, where he is now US Attorney for the Southern District -- undoubtedly to reward him (send him back home) for a "heck of a job" and to put him in position to help steal the past midterms and next Presidential election.

Back in December of '05, I was prompted to take closer look at Acosta's involvement in election thefts by the Washington Post report that the Justice Department approved the Texas Redistricting plan in defiance of the unanimous conclusion, issued by the attorneys in the Voting Rights section, that the plan violated the Voting Rights Act.

The Texas case was not alone. The chief of the department's voting rights section, John Tanner, overruled staff on Georgia's ID req, the Republican-backed redistricting in Mississippi, and the illegal district map in Arizona. From Mid-2003 until the election, Tanner's recommendations went to Acosta who "did the deeds" and issued (if the change benefited repubs) or denied (if the change benefited dems) preclearnce. The timeline of actions, not just of Acosta, but of appellate courts and SCOTUS, tells a damning tale. Here it is:

2. Most excellent work. I really love how research is done now, democratically
People all over the web contributing to the knowledge base that's going to take these #@$@%#ers down. I bet Waxman-Leahy-Conyers have their research assistants combing the web for aggregations like this. Thanks for posting. K & R nt.

3. Very, very important story! Thanks for posting it as an OP!
This story provides some of the CONTEXT of Bushcon election fraud. It's not just recent. It's not just for the future. It's their pervasive M.O. They cannot win without election fraud. Their ideas are not, and never have been, mainstream. (And I wish people would stop giving the war profiteering corporate news monopolies that ground--the "mainstream"--with the title "the mainstream media" and its acronym, the "MSM." WE are the "mainstream." We here at DU.)

5. Malfeasance is as common in Loyal Bushies as it is in most totalitarians
What IS nice is now it is being exposed, brick-by-brick, hopefully on it's way towards being fixed.

The Executive Branch of our Government, in it's entirety with perhaps few distant and unimportant sections is now running in much the same way as the Soviet Executive Branch did.

Unquestionably. It is so pervasive and everywhere the Loyal Bushies cannot hope to cover it all up.

Oh, and why do I STRONGLY SUSPECT that Acosta's district includes Florida - 13 home of the most blatant of the Loyal Bushies' 2006 vote-blocking efforts.

I haven't even looked, but I don't have to. Totalitarianism is THAT predictable.

I would guess there is a 10-20% chance I am wrong, if anyone wants to call me on it I will take responsibility for it, but I am NOT wrong.

In fact, I am off to check now...

6. Yup. The incredible predictability of the fascists makes the Dems' blindness. . ..

. . .all the more heartbreaking.

I just keep reminding myself that they really are just people -- for the most part, people capable of being reasonable (i.e., people who CAN be reached).
