I support torture and so do you and every single American citizen if there isn't accountability and criminal penalties for the Bush administration's illegal and immoral policies. Demand justice! This is a Constitutional imperative.

The fact that atrocities are committed the world over doesn't make everyone complicit when the perpetrators aren't brought to justice.

I don't control and can't control my reps. I can only let them know my positions on issues and lobby them to vote or act in a certain way. A representative gov't dosn't give control over the votes and actions of the reps in power. We can vote them out, but that's another story.

Being powerless to stop government agencies from committing crimes doesn't make anyone of us supporters of what is done in our names.
You are advocating a logical fallacy that doesn't hold water, either legally or morally.

our gov't reps are elected but once that happens, we can't control what they do or how they vote, we can try and influence them or try to vote them out. that's what a reprsentative gov't by and for the people entails.

clear to everyone they lied through their teeth & pepetuated war crimes the entire 8 years -
in addition to wrecking the economy & the public wealth.
vote for one of the two programmed choices, let them do whatever they want while in office without criticism, don't prosecute when they leave & their crimes are discovered.
so - this is different from soviet russia how?
they got to vote, too.

and I did not speak up because I do not co-opt Niemoller.
Then they came for the cries of "fascism," and I did not speak up because I do not call policies I do not like fascist.
Then they came for the Hitler comparisons, and I did not speak up because I do not compare politicians to Hitler.
Then they came for me, and there were no rhetorical devices left to call my enemies Nazis.
