Official DU Rosey Statistics from the 2009 Tax Return Trenches from “the girl” |
|
Having spent 6 days a week during the past 4 months working for a CPA, with my hands on actual tax returns actually filed by my fellow American Citizens, I report the following, exclusively to DU:
The only people who tithe make $35k or less, and 90% make $25k or less. Obviously they ONLY do this because they get a HUGE tax deduction.
Non-cash contributions for the $50k+ crowd run $100 or more vs $1 in cash contributions. How would America survive if we didn’t have those 5 bags of clothes (most of them in need of dry cleaning) at Goodwill "worth" $1,500 and $10 tossed over to United Way? Pure altruism!!
People who bring in 6 or more W-2s do not itemize deductions!!! Amazing but true, my friends. These lazy folks don’t pay more than 7.5% of their income on healthcare (they probably visit the Mayo Clinic every month "free" compliments of YOUR tax dollars), contribute to the welfare of our Great American Banks via mortgages, give $2,000 worth of the kids’ nearly-new toys to "Secret Santa", or even buy new cars when they can write off the sales tax. What kind of Americans are they??? No wonder GM and BOA needed a bail-out.
Sarcasm aside, a very personal note: I was referred to as "the girl" by a female client. My jaw is still on the ground.
I am 62 years old. I began work when it was considered "ok" for a male boss to say I could not apply for a "professional" job because I was female. I went to business school when I was the only female student, made A’s, and was constantly berated by my male colleagues for "ruining" their curve. In the 1960’s that was the norm, but I worked my tail off, earned my way while paving the way for my sisters and their girl children. Yet today, there is still a female who thinks I’m "the girl." Sigh.
It’s good to be back on DU. What have I missed?

2. Interesting stuff, Rosey! |
|
I guess those closest to the edge have a bit more empathy for those who have just slipped over. People with a bigger cushion against the harshness of life lack imagination.
