I am just sorry and surprised that it wasn't harder to make moral depravity mainstream |
|
I'm having a bit of a disconnect watching the most vigilant watchdogs of the public morality - people like Pat Buchanan, George Will, Hannity, Republicans in general, fall all over themselves breaking speed records to welcome torture as the newest tool of American Democratic Leadership of the Free World. (George Will - a man who sees denim as the greatest threat in society!) I would have thought that some sense of embarrassment or shame alone would have had them keep their own depraved thoughts to themselves instead of feeling so comfortable in their new roles as the Johnny Appleseeds of inhumanity.
I honestly thought the American public as a whole were better and smarter than to fall prey to these con men.

1. "the Johnny Appleseeds of inhumanity"-you said a mouthful! |
|
They are con men, but hopefully the American public can figure out for themselves that torture is wrong, illegal and immoral. I'm not giving up on 'us' yet.

3. I'm thinking pragmatism on how we proceed, but different from questioning what was settled judgments |

on torture. I think many of these Conservative talking heads know the leadership model of GOP, justification for entire enterprise and rebirth, ability to score points off of future strike, rests with ends justifies means.
I'm uncomfortable with one admin prosecuting prior one, but we can't let the moral relativity of this slide. We also have to prove that torture doesn't work, or we get the return of what we abhor.
