Or they pissed him off somehow.

Anyway, hope everyone is ok.

30. Yup.
Especially since, while serious, it doesn't look "OMG END OF THE WORLD" serious.

I didn't laugh at people suffering, I only made a lighthearted statement about the irony of God's team being displaced by a major tornado.

59. When I moved to CA at age 10 or so, I had an accent as thick as Gomer Pyle
And I was ridiculed for it, called "Okie" and "hillbilly". I got in some fights got a few bloody noses and bloodied a few myself over the next couple years before I realized the best way to deal with that sort of bullshit is to fucking ignore it. So i did. It took awhile but when kids became convinced it didn't bother me, they lost interest in teasing me. And I finally convinced myself it didn't bother me. Even though it always sort of did.

I don't think many DU'ers really want Texas to secede from the US. I sure as hell don't. But you guys gotta toughen up. You wear your hearts on your sleeve when it comes to stuff like this.

Don't be so defensive. We really like you.

 Excuse me, but we've ignored the bullying & bigotry for years on DU. And yet the bullies & the bigots keep on posting anyway & it's getting worse. Sorry, but this is a "liberal" & "progressive" board, not Free Republic.

And I do think many on DU would be glad to get rid of Texas, unless it's election time & they need our money.

Ignore that bullshit. People will stick the needle in as long as they know it'll get a reaction.

And BTW, in my original post I was not ridiculing Texas or even something as silly as a goddamn football team. I was making fun of Terrell Owens, a great football player but a thoroughly disagreeable and disruptive human being.

And now, you'll have to excuse me. I'm going to go listen to my iPod which is full of songs by such noted haters of Texas as Robert Earl Keen, Willie Nelson and Billy Joe Shaver.

I can't believe I even have to explain this.

Oh, sure, there will be threads trashing Gov. Ahnuld every once in a while, but how many threads turn up, condemning the whole fucking state of California, every woman, man and child? That's what Texas DUers have to put up with, day after day after day. And we're sick of it. "We really like you"? My ass.....

I don't hate the dallas cowboys. I probably don't even think about them more than a few times a year, I don't even hate their silly ass owner.

You know what? I don't hate anybody. I don't even hate you.

But you are kinda getting on my nerves.

BTW I see you are mad. You should try to work on that. It isn't good for you.

http://pacmanjonesin.com/2009/05/02/its-official-god-hates-the-cowboys/

A major thunderstorm rolled through Dallas on Saturday, spawning an apparent tornado that blew down the Cowboys‘ practice facility. Thankfully (or maybe not thankfully if you hate the Cowboys) the players, coaches and media members there for rookie minicamp had already evacuated, and there are believed to have been no injuries. One reporter described the experience as, “terrifying.” The rookies all probably think it was part of some horrible hazing ritual.

41. They still don't know if it was an actual tornado
But the "straight winds" down here can do just as much damage, so much so that it can take a while to determine if a tornado did/didn't hit a building/area.
I've seen HUGE trees in my neighborhood ripped from the ground, roots in the air and later we were told it was "just" straight winds.

They just interviewed the trauma doctor there, he said three are more critically hurt but he doesn't believe the injuries are life threatening.

Some injured went to Parkland, a few to Baylor Dallas, and some to the hospital near Valley Ranch. Other less injured drove themselves to nearby medical facilities.

:-(

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/050209dnmetcowboyshp.1232041e.html

Cowboys coach Wade Phillips said special teams coach Joe DeCamillis suffered a neck injury and was taken to an area hospital by ambulance.

"He was moving his hands, and he was talking," Phillips said before leaving for the hospital.

A 33-year-old man was impaled by an object and was taken to Parkland Memorial Hospital in Dallas, Irving City Manager Tommy Gonzalez said.

Two other people were taken to Parkland, one with a head injury and another who suffered neck and back injuries. Another person was at Baylor Medical Center in Dallas with an open leg fracture.

56. I'm up north of Dallas tonight and they think just straight winds now...
and not a tornado but same effect. Some huge T-storms going through southern OK and northern TX this afternoon. It was 3"-4" deep on the highway in some points and I was down to 40 mph to keep from out running my wipers. Not a fun drive. Still lots of thunder and rain outside. Wish me luck.

92. Apparently athletes aren't viewed as human around here
There'd be more sympathy if it were a puppy shelter that had collapsed.

74. Thanks
You have to wonder whether the Cowboy's staff was paying any attention to the weather forecast which was public knowledge for at least two days.
Any word on the injured?

79. Broken vertabrae, broken leg, and someone with a dislocated shoulder
Edited on Sun May-03-09 10:20 AM by rainbow4321
There have been a few reports of someone being "impaled" with a falling object but no name given out or what body part was impaled...

http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/050209dnmetcowboyshp.1232041e.html

Cowboys special teams coach Joe DeCamillis suffered broken vertebrae in his back, according to his father-in-law, one-time NFL coach Dan Reeves.

Reached by phone Saturday night, Reeves said DeCamillis was undergoing an MRI and a CT scan, along with further tests.

"It's just lucky and fortunate and a miracle really he's not paralyzed," Reeves said.

No players were seriously injured in the collapse, which happened about 3:30 p.m., but three other Cowboys personnel were hurt: assistant athletic trainer Greg Gaither, who suffered a broken leg; college scouting coordinator Chris Hall, whose arm was injured; and scouting assistant Rich Behm, who was in critical condition with unspecified injuries. All remained hospitalized Saturday night.

One of the worst injuries to come out of the roof collapsing at the Dallas Cowboys indoor training facility happened to special teams coach Joe DeCamillis. We knew that he had been taken to the hospital in a neck-brace, now we find out he has actually broken his back. Several of the lower vertebrae were broken and it could have been a lot worse.

Former coach Dan Reeves, DeCamillis' father-in-law, said the first-year Dallas coach has a couple of broken vertebrae in his lower back. "They say he's lucky not to be paralyzed," said Reeves, adding that DeCamillis probably will have surgery. The coach was seen being removed on a stretcher wearing a neck brace.

: From Matt Mosley's blog via the comments section and BTB-regular TARHEEL PAUL we learn a Cowboys scout also has a back injury.

As of 12:08 a.m. ET, a Cowboys scout named Rich Behm is undergoing surgery on his spinal cord at a Dallas hospital, according to a source close to the family. DeCamillis, who is former NFL head coach Dan Reeves' son-in-law, has two broken vertebrae, according to sources
